News: BOTM 52 Results and Congratulations

Well congratuations to - umm - everyone really. This was a hard deity game. The map made no concessions to the difficulty - you played the map (almost) as given by the map generator, and as several people remarked in the spoilers, the starting area wasn't exactly generous with resources. Despite all this, 6 people managed to battle through to victory, and there were many brave tales from the majority who tried the overwhelming odds and got defeated (and I suspect the even bigger majority who didn't even submit).

But I know you really want to know who 'won'. Well, it won't come as any surprise to anyone reading the spoilers that Mylene picked up the gold medal for an astounding 1255AD domination victory and a final score not far short of four hundred thousand - and with the challenger save too! The other people who stand triumphant are neilmeister, Xcalibrator, yamps, jesusin and Jovan Kukic. Noone managed a conquest, religious, or time victory, but all the other victory conditions were represented.

Summary of Medal Winners:

Mylene: 1255 AD Domination Victory, 375,183 points.

neilmeister: 1710 AD Diplomatic Victory, 200,808 points.

Xcalibrator: 1851 AD Domination Victory, 118,330 points.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fastest Finish Award Winners:

jesusin: 1580 AD Cultural Victory, 88,423 points.

Jovan Kukic: 1852 AD Spaceship Victory, 72,621 points.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Award Winners:

yamps: 1764 AD Diplomatic Victory, 108,824 points.

smoreau2: 1854 AD Spaceship Loss, 4,882 points.

donsig: 1380 AD Conquest Loss, 868 points.

Where everyone settled

Here's where everyone settled.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

While my final score looks good, i got lucky early with a relative late Oracle.
Could have lost or struggled too, everyone who played this tough deity game deserves a big

Quite a fun game... until they decided I was just in the way and stomped on my pathetic civilization. Reminds me of the good old days when this kind of result could happen at any level above Prince.

Call me a masochist, but I enjoy the games where just winning is a big accomplishment. Congrats to all, especially Yamps and Jovan, who ought to be lurking the Unusual Suspects SGOTM15 and providing us the benefit of their wisdom.

My first medal and a cow! My cup runneth over! I was very lucky to get as many Great Spies as I did, and hiding in the shadows like a rat as I stole (techs) from the rich and powerful is probably all that saved me. Liz not having any metal, poor lassie, didn't hurt either. Mylene, I'm in awe. Congrats to all who gave this a go.

Way to go, XCal! Another Suspect makes good! Sorry I missed that. How did I miss that? Anyhow, congratuölations, I am in awe, and next time I disagree with you on Team matters I will defer to your superior wisdom (well.. probably not, but I'll at least think that I should).
