Finally going to buy Civilization 5 with the release of Gods and Kings

I'm a longtime fan of the Civilization series (started playing heavily with Civ 1) but held back on buying Civ 5 due to all the early bad reviews.

Now with the release of Gods and Kings, which sounds like a great expansion, I plan to finally buy Civ 5.

I saw like five different listings for Civ 5 on Amazon. Are they all the same? Or do people reccommend a specific version of Civ 5 that is best to buy?

Thanks.

If you have the money, get the GotY version on Steam, which includes most of the DLC (except for Korea).

Yes, the Gods and Kings expansion looks promising. I particularly like the part where they added the Huns. Looks like they listened to the genius Kruelgor in this thread http://forums.civfanatics.com/showth...=419361&page=7 claiming the Huns deserve to be in the game.

Although I feel that charging for stuff that was in civ 4 is unjustified, I hope it does add more depth to it, to me it feels hollow and boring. Especially with the long loading times in the modern era.

IF you are buying Civ V WITH the release of G&K, you should wait one month and buy all that together

Edit: Specifically via Steam

Dutch site bol.com has civ5 for 10 euro, or the GOTY for 30 euro.

And you need to wait 4 weeks until G+K is out, so waiting a little longer for a sale on steam isn't that difficult.

It's not the same stuff. There's no way you can say religion and espionage are the same in IV as they are in V.

Yea, GotY+Korea/Wonders DLC will give you all of CiV that has been released so far for super cheap. I need to get Denmark when I get home since I just never was excited about it.
