Nukes are the bomb...literally!
Ohmigosh I just finished the COOLEST game on Civ V ever!! Siam and I had been best buds all game--we even double-teamed Persia and Greece together. I was on my way to winning; I had just completed my SS Engine. That's when Siam decided I was a threat and he needed to backstab me, big-time. And boy, did he ever. He sent one serious can of whoop-a** my way. There was this big column of Siamese armies, almost 4 deep, about 7 wide. Caught me COMPLETELY by surprise. I thought he was going to overrun my cities for sure, before I had a chance to complete the remaining spaceship parts.
So I spent 2000 gold and rush purchased a nuclear missile. I hit the Next Turn button, and he bombards one of my bigger cities to red in one turn. Then...next turn, I had a present for him. Big mushroom cloud--the most beautiful fiery inferno ever--and there goes 6 artillery, 4 infantries, a cavalry, a crossbowman, a worker, his Great General, and oh, one of his cities. Kaboom! That was the end of Siam's attack. I won a few turns later, but ohmigosh, that was hilarious!

Ahh sounds like a blast! Only time I've nuked anyone was for a "let's try it out" kinda thing. Won with space victory next turn
![]() I've seen a lot of people use them like crazy in the end game. Go read Raelyn's game as Egypt and you'll see the Babylonians and Persians going crazy with them!! |

Nukes are so satisfying to use. :>
I ended up in a trench-like war with France the other week (I played Rome). Basically, there were very few tiles from which I could reach his territory due to ocean and mountains blocking the way. I play on Immortal, so he had a steady stream of units filling up those passages. Eventually, I just decided to nuke his entire territory as he was the last AI alive. I ended up dropping over 30 nukes total, wiping out all his cities except the capital. It was a glorious day for the Roman empire. :P |
