'Virgin Queen' board game by Ed Beach

Virgin Queen: Wars of Religion 1559-1598, the sequel to Civ5: Gods & Kings Lead Designer Ed Beach's acclaimed board game Here I Stand, was recently released, and has been receiving very positive reviews. The game can be purchased from GMT Games for $89. Designed for hardcore strategists, GMT provides the following game description:
Virgin Queen is the sequel to Here I Stand, another card-driven game of grand strategy that covered the previous forty years (from Martin Luther’s posting of his 95 Theses in 1517 through the abdication of Charles V in 1556). Players familiar with Here I Stand will find much that is familiar in Virgin Queen: over half of the rulebook remains unchanged.
Ed Beach also recently talked about both his work on the two board games and its connection to his work on Gods & Kings in this interview with killscreendaily.

Thanks to Haig for informing us about the board game, and to cuc for posting the interview.

Great news. Ed Beach is probably the best designer now active. His involvement with Civ 5 is the reason I'm still interested in G&K even after decades of being beaten into the ground by oversold expansion packs both for boardgames and the PC. ALL HAIL HIM.

I just played Virgin Queen today. Epic fun game. Took eight hours though, but that was with rule explanation.
