Abilities will be dependent on individuals.
To actually kill the King the assassins will have to kill X other people first. They are not all guards.
There will be mafia throughout all groups.

Part of the beauty of AitP is its simplicity.

I'd have to see the ruleset first before I judge though.

Assassin in the palace.

Generally, 1 assassin, 4 guards and 1 King. The Guards know the kings identity, but not their own. I can't remember if the King knows anyone's identity. Assassin has a one time kill, if he kills anyone but the king, he loses. Aim of the game is to kill the king as an assassin, if they are lynched, they can still use their one time kill.

Assassin usually wins.

I've usually seen 1 assassin, 8 guards, and 1 King.

Rules are the same as you say, though. 8 guards know who the one king is; king only knows that he is king; and the assassin only knows he is the assassin.

It`s a very fun game! We should have one as a small mafia game.

So I'm thinking of inviting someone from another forum to this forum. She keeps opening up Mafia games on the other forum but doesn't get enough people to play. Hopefully I can get her to come on this forum.

Well, to be honest, I've barely even sniffed at it in months, due to reasons of time, energy and a flagging playerbase at CFC. I still have the file, so there's no data loss or anything though.

I can still host it, eventually. Don't know what place we're at in the queue though.

The last two large games have gotten 38 and 35 players with a good dose of reserves each.
