Hi everyone. I bought Civ 5 during the Steam sale the other week and have spent over 24 hours playing it already. Now I'm really looking forward to the add on pack for it. The first Civ game I played was Civ IV but despite enjoying it massively, I was never really able to master it's finer points. Civ V is definitely easier to get to grips with - but I miss Leonard Nimoy saying "beep beep".

Wow !! Your CF Thread goes WAY back. But none since Feb? I'm a noob to threading, but have gamed for decades going back to board games starting with Tactics II in the Stone Age. In the Bronze Age, I moved up to Stalingrad with Wardroom wars that lasted for days [off-watch only]. Later tried various other BG's, but managing the unit pieces got to be too much of a hassle. Then, after a prolonged Dark Ages of nothingness, I migrated into the Digital Age by dial-up downloading Rise of Nations and then RoN T&P; seemed to take forever - wait, it DID take forever. I still think those are great strategic simulations.
Also have enjoyed the Age of Empires sets. Started with AoE II-original, then AoKings and AoConquerors. I liked the variety of historical scenarios one could try out. Then I got Civilized. I found Civ 4 while online shopping and loved it right off. Then I acquired SM's Civ Chronicles. That's a really nice historical set but I had difficulty going retro to Civ 3 and earlier; I was too inured to the Civ 4 system. I really liked Civ 4-Beyond the Sword for the tremendous variety of gaming experiences. Two things I like about Civ 4 [and MISS in Civ V] are Diplomacy/Espionage and the system for border flux through cultural and religious influences. Recently, I've been experiencing [is this obscene and inflammatory?] Elder Scrolls 3 and 5. I have enjoyed the Steam Workshop ability to mod the TES5 game to one's own liking, without having to be a programming genious. Now it seems this is being Civilized and should greatly enhance the Civ experience. Well, I've rambled on long enough. Thanks for the welcome. |

Hi everyone, I've been playing civ since III came out but I just found this forum a week or so ago while searching for mods. I own civ III, IV, and V. I've been playing civ IV the most for years but I can't make it past prince.

Hello.
I've been snooping around here for a while and I've decided to join today. When I was young I always used to watch my dad play Civ, and recently (About 4 years ago) I started to play Civ as well. I've played both Civ 4 and 5, with all the DLC, although I never legitimately won a Civ 4 game (I'm really bad). Any ways I hope to have fun here, and learn some tips and strategy. |

I too thank you for your service! I've got the same complete edition and have been playing for over a year. Still not getting up to Noble status yet but it seems that getting Bronze Working to Slavery with some Stone nearby is a winner. That way you can produce faster, build the Great Wall and the Pyramids can all jump you ahead. I play with Raging Barbarians On so that's why I have to choose that strategy. My name is Randall and I'm from SE Illinois, age 43, handle Dokroth as in Dokroth Kromikosis which is a fictional character I created for a DnD campaign. I've been a DM since I was 12 years of age. I'm also a big Book Case Gamer like stuff from Avalon Hill. I've been sticking to Beyond the Sword Mods. If you ever want to try online give me a shout. I've only done it once because it's hard to get in a game if no one knows you. Ciao! |

Been playing Civ since CivII test of time back in 99.
Love the game. Only one dissappointment that in 13 years I have never seen a good US Civil War scenario/Mod. Oh well. |

Hello. I played Civ 1 a long time ago, and the "10 year civ game" article got me thinking about getting back into it. So I joined the forum to read up on how the game's progressed over the years.

Hey guys. My name is Marc. I'm just bought to the complete edition of Civ IV. I've been getting bored with FPS's for a while and decided to graduate to real games.
![]() I plan to buy Civ V during the STEAM summer sale, if it is cheap. I really hope I can get into this game and get some real fun from it! Probably going to lurk and amass some knowledge. Last edited by Viltrumite; Jun 18, 2012 at 07:42 PM. |

Hi everyone! Been reading these forums at least a year now and finally decided to join in.
I'm a 16-year-old high school student from Finland, and have played CiV since its release. Creating graphics and doing some modding are some hobbies of mine, and I might release here a couple of maps and new civilizations with unique-textured units soon - when I have finally managed to complete them! ![]() See you guys here in the forum soon! Hey there, Civ 5 player trying to mod for the first time. I'm trying to create a new civilization for the fictional country of Cascadia (featuring a handful of states and provinces located in the northwest corner of North America. I used the Modders Guide and followed the instructions (even straight copying the XML in some cases) and thought I had completed the mod, and when I go into the main menu, and select "mods" my new civilization is there. But when I continue on and try to start a new game, it doesn't appear.
Also, Hi. |

Hi, everyone! I've been playing civilization for two years now. I have civ4, civ4 bts, civ4 warlords, colonization, and civ5. I made this account to be able to get tips and strategies to help improve my gaming experience. I also want to contribute to the forums and give some tips of my own.
