i am on AD 1894 and i have 2345 score and closest enemy have 631.
i am finising ATOMIC ERA. and they still doesnot enter INDUSTRY ERA.
so planes vs musketmen. machine gun vs spear men. artilery vs 7-8 civ cities.

i conquer 3/4 of continent with out single resist but CITY STATES makes me crayz.

closest enemy have pre industry units but somehow god damn HONKONG have Infantry like me. closest enemy city attacks with arrowsbut their city attack with rocketbarrage.

The city states tend to follow the strongest player in the world. So they keep up with you.

I think city-states get all techs that is known by atleast one civ so they are as advanced as you.

I do not know how barbarians work however.

in runaways like this, try to make alliances with CSs (if possible at this point), arm them with a bunch of your units, and watch them burn your enemies to the ground. Good times.

By the way, if you park the inquisitor in a city and don't use it, I heard it prevents prophets and missionaries from spreading their religion to that city.

Pressure means people will slowly adopt that religion over time. Nearby cities of a religion add pressure of that religion. Hopefully mods like UP will have numbers (or even bars) that show the progress of this.

hmm. thx all but i need clear answers
and new question.

think you have 2 city. and there is freeland between them. and we build road over these free land and our land.

what maintece cost occurs this? are we paying ALL the road or ONLY in our land road?

if ALL the road. what happens when some civ captures that territory. still i have to pay cost of these roads?
or can i Exploit these? if other civ pays the road maintece in their territory.i buy them open borders. fill all the land he has with roads and make him pay all these maintence cost.

so i am too confused right now. pls some one iluminate me
-----------------
i found answer
Quote:
The mechanics of road ownership need a small explanation, especially if your road maintenance is unexpectedly high (or low). If a road is in your territory, you pay its upkeep. If a road is in another civs territory, they pay for its upkeep. It does not matter who built the road, only whose territory it is in. If a road exists outside of anyone's territory then the builder of that road pays its upkeep.

You pay for every road your workers build and every road inside cultural border which you capture.

City states have science of their own, but they also gain science advancements from the most powerful civ that is near them, so they're kinda getting the benefit of your science level.

Also, don't kill all the city states. You don't need to do that to win, and they give bonuses.

You sure can, at least according to a thread from a few weeks back. Don't do it though

I hope I did understand your question:
City-States keep up with nearby civilizations (like you) techwise, and have therefore often the same units as you could have.

another questions.
why maria teressa send spies all time? i caught them with special acent all time. after 1-2 turn she begs for forgive. i forgive her like 5 times and it annoys me now.

still sending god damn spies and still begs forgive. how to stop that woman?

and can i be friend with some nation to end of game? or all of them NEED to backstab me?
my longest friend declaration last 20-30 turn. they become hostile or guarded inmediatly.

and luxary resources. i sell them to 240 gold. is that good or you suppose me another price?

It annoys me too, but unless I want to purposely sour relations with her, I just forgive her (twice).

Forgive once when I get the notification icon on the right side of screen - click it and forgive her, and again when it is her turn; she'll be sad about it and I forgive her. Who knows if I get anything out of doing it twice, but I do it anyway, just in case.

I have yet to find an advantage to telling a Civ not to spy/steal my stuff other than me purposely trying to decrease my good relations and make them declare war after a while. I read somewhere that they will stop maybe if you are allies? I can't remember, maybe someone else can answer better or point to that thread.

Just think of the AI as scheming at all times on how to backstab you, regardless of relations. They have soft skin, and will cry at the slightest provocation.

In your case, one possibility that they became guarded/hostile could be that you got freindly with an enemy of theirs. They do not like that, because they have soft skin. Another reason could be you were getting better relations with a certain CS that they like too.

That is a good price. In fact, I think it is the maximum price for a certain Level of Difficulty. I do not know those numbers, but they may increase/decrease depending on what level you are playing on.

With best relations that’s the most I've ever gotten. Typically I choose 240 in trade when in friendly\neutral, 209 for guarded, and something like 225 for 5 iron or horses for 30 turns. Typically play Emp\Standard time.

A trick I use to find out if someone is going to backstab me is if they are friendly and won't give me 240 then I know they have just finished sharping their knife. If they aren't friendly first it is not always as good an indicator but make sure you move a few units to their side of your empire just in case.
