Welcome to the game.

Land distribution depends on the prefects. You could ask them for land grants. Since you are in Rome, you might want to ask Jehoshua for land in Rome (though I am not sure there is land available)

You are now also a senator, since you are a patrician in Rome.

Alas land is not available at the present time. I will see about it when new land becomes available however.

Welcome to ImRo, don't forget to consider joining Civleaders GaP II when it comes online in the very near future as well (the more challengers the better).

We need an excerpt to determine quality. If its sub-standard I would rather not spend the coin

Good idea. Here is the introduction to the book:

Spoiler:
Introduction
When the Patricians of Rome overthrew the tyrannical Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, they needed to create a government that not only served the needs of Rome, but also one that prevented the abuse of power that had become a staple of the monarchy over the previous thousand years. At the same time, the mob rule of democracy has the same effect of having no government at all. Instead of resorting to systems that failed historically, the patricians created a new form of government: The Republic. This government is unique in its ability to achieve seemingly contradictory goals. Power is centralized in the Senate, while it is decentralized by the Praefecture. Only the wise and educated are allowed to acquire political power, but the people have a voice in the Tribunate. The existence of a powerful veto prevents the Senate from passing poorly conceived and unconstitutional laws, but the election of the Princeps Senatus and his appointment of the Consuls prevents the veto power from getting into disruptive hands. The government created by the patricians is truly a marvel of the Roman spirit and ingenuity. Understanding this marvel, and the conflicts and compromises that led to its creation, is necessary for the success of future generations of leaders. It is for this reason that I have attempted to write this book. The thoughts and varying opinions of the patricians provide great insight into the issues that the Republic has faced at its founding and the issues that will continue to come in the future. Note: I have not included specific names in this work because this work is not a political document and does not seek to give or take credit for the achievements of an incredibly successful generation.

Thank you for the welcome. I'll try to come up with a proper introduction and RP sometime tomorrow (too busy at work ATM).
I guess I'll have to figure out some other source of income for the time being...

OOC: Was there even an in-game reason for me to become Prefect of Antium? Anyways, Civleader has returned, and thus he is once again the Prefect of Antium.

OOC: Good question. Dot, is there an in-game reason for my absence and Magnive taking over?

...Yeah. I never received my stuff for that update, and have nothing for this one. Wonderful.

Anyways, I'm out. Have fun yall. I sorta fell out of willingness to play, and its not really the fault of the lack of stats.

Pardon the multiple OOC posts, but I have made a slight adjustment to my name:
Soranus Cosius (Grindstone) Vorenus of Rome

With the departure of madtemplar0, does this free up any land grants? If so, I will adjust my backstory accordingly.
Also I've finished reading all 24 pages and I believe I have familiarized myself with the format and current storyline. As I understand it, the current senatorial session is finished but we may still take actions?
Thank you.

You said you wished for Magnive to be in charge while you were gone. That is why he was 'steward' of Antium.

The tiles you were to be given were ambiguous and/or I couldn't find them. You had ample opportunity to politley remind me that I missed you. In addition these updates must be done in my free time and take hours to complete so if I missed something it is only because it was lost in all the other things I had to do. Finally no one has yet received stats this turn because the session has obviously not begun yet.

Sorry eveyone for the delay. All of a sudden I became unexpectedly busy. It's half way done and ill try to get it finished soon.

EDIT: welcome grindstone be sure to join the SG and read the beginners guide.

Well, the session ended with Christos's election to Princeps Senatus, many new patricians became senators, I also woke up from a two week long sleep and became Prefect of Antium again, new laws were passed (you can see them in the social group), and... I think that is basically it.

Welcome back

~The Spread of Buddhism~

Turn Report:
Spoiler:

T162 Barbarians near Seoul defeated!

Extensive damage was done to the plantation in the tile however.

T163 Almaty has gifted us a unit!

The Inca invaded Germany.

The Indians competed the Great Library.

Construction started on a Library in Rome.

T164 Buddhism spread in Anitum.

T167 Buddhism Spread in Antium.

T168 Almaty has gifted us fish!

The streets of Rome, Seoul, and Antium all echoed with news of war in the north. The Inca have invaded Germany, and are besieging Hamburg. A German diplomat arrived in Rome shortly after. He requested an audience with the senate. Meanwhile Buddhism has spread in Antium. Buddhism is a newly founded religion centered around the belief of obtaining enlightenment, with its origins in India. Only weeks after the missionaries arrived thousands were converting. Already makeshift temples and shrines are popping up all over Antium. Reportedly Ivan the Terrible even converted to the new religion, bringing with him thousands of converts. While the religion currently only has a presence in Antium, it is only a matter of time before it spreads to the rest of the Republic.

Issues:
  • What are we going to do about the plantation?
  • What are we going to do about the Germans?
  • What are we going to do about the Incans?
  • What are we going to do about the Buddhists?
  • What are we going to do about the unowned tiles in Rome and Seoul?

Speech to the Plebs
I would like to introduce to the city of Rome and all it's citizen to my three children and my wife. Claudia is my wife. Zenus II, age 8; Julia, age 5; and Varus, age 3. As I have a family now, I request to be given the land slots of E2, and the consideration for the deer slot in the future. I thank the Perfect of this city, Gauis Caelius, and all the senate members of this glorious government.

Speech to the Plebs

I give my congratulations to Claudia and her husband. For indeed it is a blessing of the gods to have many children, indeed my 11 children are the life and joy of my household and the future of House Caelius, incidentally arrangements for marriages are open for any patrician family, or notable plebeian, who is interested.

As to the request though, it is extremely impertinent to simply demand land publicly as if you are entitled to it. This lack of humility and respect, disturbs me, especially considering you are a newcomer to the political scene. However I am a generous prefect, and in the interests of your children and their future I will consider granting you land. My decision shall be made later, afterall there are more important issues to discuss in the senate that merit my immediate attention.

~ Gaius Caelius
