Virtual Windows Machine

If I have a Mac and I want to run Civilization V on it, and I have the ability to run Windows virtually from the Mac, can I buy Civilization V for Windows and run it on the virtual machine. I assume I would be able to, but I just want to double check.

Civ5 is on SteamPlay .
If you buy the Windows version from Steam, you should get the Mac version for free.

Could I install Civ 4 for Windows on the virtual desktop for large mods?

I'm not sure if it would work for either 4 or 5.
It really depends on what graphics card is simulated and how much RAM you can assign to the VMs.

Well the Mac will be new and hasn't been bought yet, and the virtual machine will probably be Windows 7 or 8.

Doesn't answer the question .
But if I remember it correctly, then there are some users who run Civ4 via Wine on a Mac, so yeah, possible .

I know it doesn't, but I thought it might give you a basic idea.

After thinking about this some more, I came up with another question: Does Civ5 on Steam Play work with mods?

IIRC you cannot use the SteamWorkshop when you're on a Mac, but mods from other sources (like CFC) should work. For a more detailed explanation about what to do please see here.
