Earth 180x180 with 31 Default C3C civs
This is a by-the-books Earth based game with no creator mods. Game rules and victory conditions are not modified. I recommend setting the rules to default, picking the civ you like and leave the other 30 set to random. All the 31 civ3 conquests civilizations are represented, and I tried my best to research accurate starting locations each civilization. I wanted to find an Earth map large enough to support this type of game and I chose Kal-El's 180x180 Earth map. It is very accurate and has a good mix of resources. Also the civs tend to grow to reasonable sizes on their own and don't under or over develop (3-15 cities before someone decides to expand into their neighbors backyard). I dislike sailing a ship over to the New World and finding only one civilization populating a whole continent and the other continent completely empty. This game will have America, the Iroqois, the Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs all competing for space. Wait untill you see the Middle East, Turkey, and Mediterranean (packed like sardines) which presents a fun challenge. You will need embassies and right-of-passage agreements just to get your ships into international waters without angering your neighbors. There are opportunities for all manner of players in this type of campaign, although bear in mind this is a game of strategy, not speed. I think this type of complexity is Civilization at its best. I know someone else did most of the work by creating the map, but I'd like to think I put together a cool game. It took about half a day of reading the civilization's descriptions and then matching cities and regions from a world atlas into balanced starting locations. I think there is a demand for realism, but I also wanted to leave all the rules and terrain to the values set by the folks who made the game. I was suprised this type of comprehensive pre-set Earth game is not more common or included with the game disk. Hope you enjoy the darkness that surrounds your fledgling civilization until you can negotiate and conquer your way to something that resembles an empire. Have fun and let me know what you think.

Sorry, the zipped attachment didn't take on this post (beginners luck). I just recreated an identical thread right after this one and the zip file is there, ready to download.
