Hey, I've never depreciated the dutch merits. I'm also descendant of dutchs and I know some of their merits along the XVII and XVIII centuries in arts, navigation, etc.

But what can we say about Rome, and it's empire of centuries in hegemonic power? And how about the Chinese empire, with milions of citizens, paper and gunpowder in a time Europe was living it's dark ages. Most of the civs in the game had it moment (excepts, pehamps, two or three of them), but it's very important not to give so much power to only one of them.

The concepts of the mod are very good, I only recommend the use of only one UU (the Geuzen, pehamps) and the 25% to trade and experience but not to gold, and that would keep the civs more balanced.

I think that it would be different if someone creates another UU for all the other civs. It would be amazing, indeed.

If this is true why not give the UB a 25% production bonus for the production of Galleon and Frigate? Or would that be more unbalanced.

That would be great. A bonus in naval production would do the same good job as the mongol UB does for it's mounted units.

It might be the right thing.

This "saw-machine" was powered by the force of windmills which you could find at the Zaansche Schans in enormous quantities these days.
The wood was brought in from Scandinavia via the Oostzee, which in these days was relatively calm and free of pirates and the English navy.

So, one could also increase the benefits of the windmill or the lumbermill a bit more.

Or, one could lower the costs of frigates so that they can be able to produce more ships in less time.

Would it make more sense to give them a unique drydock that improves the production rate of ships even further? Or give the drydock's bonus to producing naval units to the harbor?

I was looking at that Dutch UU, the pikeman replacement, and it seems to be a complicated replacement, having a different strength, a reduction in the mounted bonus, but an additional gain against cities and melee. Is there any way that can be simplified a little more to fit in with the "box" UUs that come with the main game?
