Preturn information

You're welcome.

I feel relieved that they did not land this turn... :whew:

Sorry for wasting some units...

Up, up, it's us again!! :run:

Niklas, you're ready? :bump:

Sorry but no. My computer had to go on service, I have a replacement in the mean time (and they did recover all my data) but my C3C disk was in the tray and is going on service too... :(

I can try - it would certainly help if I get a good briefing.

Anybody able to take a look at the save and report where the fleets are threatening so we can discuss?

Also: What to do with our money?
Just exposing spys or also (short-)rushing units and workers?

Sorry, I was not able to play yesterday and won't be today either...

Actually, I don't know when I will get time to play - maybe friday?

Anybody else able to do the turn?

Oh, I think we lost the game...

SABER landed 6 armies, 31 MA, 10 Mech Infs, 4 SAMS and a settler near our capital.
That's 6x3+31x2=80 punches against our defenders plus bombers... :run:

All roads there are destroyed so we won't be able to attack their stack.

Is our space ship lost if we destroy our capital? :hmm:

I'm not too sorry if this one will be over (for us) finally.

If anybody has siome decent ideas how to cope with this invasion, please speak up...
I'll ask for another delay. :mischief:

:shifty: :run:

I wonder why they didn't land sooner? Perhaps because we're down to just one more SS part to go?

I don't know anything about losing the space ship. What if we gift our capital to Babe? Perhaps our spaceship would transfer to our new capital automatically?? :dunno:

ouch
Yes, I am fairly certain that the space ship is destroyed if they take the capital, or is it the city which has the Apollo program?
Not sure if gifting would transfer the ship to another city, most likely that is a no.

I am sure some of the more experienced late game players can fill in on that.
I am also a but surprised they left it this late. Sad that we cannot get our MA's into position due to the cratered lands.

What's with the defeatism? Sure we can't hit their stack, but we can reach our own capital and put every defender we have in there. We have more than 80 that can take a punch, and with the city defenses and a radar tower in range they won't have the best odds even with bomber support.

I'm not saying we will win. I'm just saying we won't lose just yet. :p

Grr, I really wish I had my disk now... :( (Hmm, maybe I can find a [unmentionable] to let me play without it...)

We lose our finished parts if the capital gets taken. I wonder if disbanding the capital and therefore moving the palace for free would allow us to keep the space ship.

If we do make a last stand in the capital remember to disband The Admiralty and The Ways so they can't land there and take the rest of our cities.

Losing Apollo will just require us to rebuild it again before we can switch to any new parts. Can't remember what city it was in but before disbanding that city we need to put a city to build the part.

Remember the draft and also use any money we have to rush any defenders where we end up making our stand.

I tested moving the capital by disbanding the town.

It destroys the space ship.

Okay, all units with at least 2 moves into The Chamber. Disband The Admirality and The Ways.
Where do we place our radar(s) and how do we protect it (them)?
Are all marines and sams sufficient?
Can we place workers anywhere to rebuild our roads without being picked off easily?

Yes, put all land units we can into The Chamber and disband other threatened cities. Remember armies get an extra move. (So and army of modern infantry could move 4 tiles.) Do we know if they landed everything from the transports in the area? Should we run the EWS, put our jets on air superiority missions or move them into The Chamber to be bomber fodder? I think the roaded plains tile W-NW of The Chamber is the place to put the radar tower. We're limited in that choice anyway since we have to use a tile a worker can move to and still have movement left. I guess we'd guard the radar tower with whatever units can't reach The Chamber. Do we have any bombers in range of the stack that landed? I'm, not sure what our workers should do. Seems like the options would be to build a fort on the site of the new radar tower or just continue to focus on repairing tiles in the cities where we are building the engine. :dunno:

EDIT: I think we might as well send some techs to FREE this turn. Also, my schedule changed and my free day is Thursday so that's the soonest I could play the save.

We should definitely send techs to FREE. I at least am serious about rather seeing FREE win than SABER at this point.

My dsl provider blocked my account due to a trojan spamming the internet.
So I won't have an operable computer either, at least I got different issues for the next days.

So donsig, prepare to play on thursday...

Maybe it's fastest if one of us sends his C3C disc to Niklas? :crazyeye:

Actually, I realized the hard way yesterday that this replacement laptop I got (Dell Latitude D420) doesn't even have a CD drive. :faint: :suicide:

Just to chime in (so you all don't feel lonely) I'm in favor of gifting all of our techs to Free, and telling them that we're under dire attack. Send screenshots. Garrison our capital, or gift cities to Free or Babe. Anything to keep Saber from winning.

Ok, I can play Thursday. What are we going to do with our jets:
  • EWS
  • Bomber fodder in The Chamber
  • Air superiority?
We're going to abandon The Admiralty and The Ways, build a radar tower near The Chamber and put as many defenders as we can into The Chamber. We'll send techs to FREE (with accept).

What should our workers do:
  • Position themselves to rebuild roads
  • Fortify our new radar tower
  • Continue to re-improve our engine pre-build cities?

All jets in range of the threatened area should do sentry duty.
The others should 50% do (random) partial EWS and 50% move to The Chamber.
Put some workers on tiles to reconnect roads. They will need *some* shelter as well so they won't get picked off...
