And you don't feel like/have time to read through the threads... Then the goal of this News Bulletin is to give you a One-Stop answer to those questions.​

This thread is NOT going to be updated by me on a regular basis, but I encourage anyone to post what their impression of "What's Goin On," any time they want. You can Follow my format or use your own... You can talk about any game subject, just give your team mates a brief overview.

I will occasionally post updates here so that people can get caught up quickly... but again, this is not meant to be a substitute for reading the threads and joining the discussion:)
 
Synopsis (What's Going On In General)

1. We are at War with Merlot.
2. We are in a tech Alliance with Sirius, Quatronia and CDZ, called the ETTT
3. We have a Comprehensive (Secret) Alliance with Sirius, called the SAP
4. We are doing well Overall, we have the most cities, solid demographics and our score fluctuates in and out of first place on a turn by turn basis
5. The Map consists of a Star-shaped Mainland, with each team having a small Home Island with Tons of Resources. We have Sheep, Silver, Deer, Fur, and Iron on Our Home Island.

Tech Strategy

1. The Tech Alliance is trying to move quickly toward Astronomy, so that we can get Galleons and invade the Home Islands of the Non-Alliance teams... Mavericks and Merlot. The Alliance needs Compass (which Quatronia is teching now) and Machinery, to get Optics. Once we have Optics we will be able to get Astronomy.

2. We are trying to get our own religion. We lost Monotheism (Judaism) to Mavericks, so now we are going for Theology (Christianity).

Goals / Objectives (Besides Having Fun:))

1. We want to exploit our IMP trait and get as many cities, as quickly as possible, while relying on our FIN Allies to provide most of the tech.

2. We want to beat Merlot off of Marthaton (the Penninsula between us, lying South of our Home Island) and try to take the whole Island or ourselves

3. We want to keep creating Mis-matches (4 on 1, then 3 on 1, then 2 on 1) through our alliances and Diplomacy to keep ourselves in the game.

4. We built the Great Wall and we want to get 2 Great Spies to establish dominance in espionage. The first Spy will be settled, and the second will build Scotland Yard. We are considering running a hybrid Specialist or Commerce Economy as the backbone, while establishing the ability to convert to an Espionage Economy if necessary.

5. We want to prevent Mavericks and Merlot from making contact for as long as possible to maximize the advantage of the ETTT

Diplomacy / Foreign Relations / Conflicts

Sirius
Our "best" friends. We met them first. We have two treaties with them, the ETTT and the SAP. Through the SAP, we are allied with them until at least 1000AD. We share all our info with them, and they seem to do the same with us.

EDIT: Here is a Link to the SAP. It took me a long time to find the treaty recently, so I thought it would be good to have a link to it somewhere.

They seem to want the role of Tech leader, and they have been trying to maximize their tech rate. They want to build the Great Library. They are also trying to get a religion, and they are headed for Code of Laws (Confucianism). Right now, they are trying to get everyone else in the alliance to tech the techs needed for Astronomy.

There is a penninsula between us that we are negotiating to share. The only thing we have agreed on so far is that we both settle only on our respective sides.

Quatronia

Our "other best friends". We met them second. We have had alot of open communication with them over PM recently. We were placed in a military alliance with them and against Merlot by administrative decision of the the game admin, as a result of Quatronia attacking Merlot and Merlot attacking us. We are gifting workboats to each other very soon.

They have been very co-operative with us and have done more than just traded tech to us. They have made commitments to our friendshp/alliance, like sinking opposing teams workboats, and gifting workboats to us. Most recently, they have asked about Merlot's attack on us.

CDZ

The last team to enter the ETTT. They are also the last team that we met. We have asked for their assistance in fighting Merlot, but they have not responded or made any indication that they intend to help us. They seem focused on Military Tech.

Merlot

We met Merlot Third. Merlot killed our scout as retalliation for Quatronia attacking them, so we are now at War with Merlot. We heard reports that Merlot had a Galley headed towards us, but Quatronia recently told us that the Galley turned back. Merlot has military units on Marthaton already, but we have not located any cites. Merlot does not have Iron Working yet so as far as they know, the copper on Marthaton is the only source of Metal nearby. Merlot is putting their espionage against us.

Mavericks

We met Mavericks Fourth. The Mavericks did not prioritize making contact and they only knew us and Quatronia for a long time. They just recently met Sirius. They will get a Great Engineer and they want to bulb Machinery to trade ther way into an alliance. They have shown a tendancy to make reports that turn out to be false, and they are also much more guarded with (legitimate) information than other teams. They are not generous in their trade proposals, often making proposals that benefit them much more than us.

They are putting their espionage against us, and we are putting our esponage against them. They asked us to stop, stating a desire to be allies, and we responded by stopping our espionage against them, but they then refused to stop putting espionage against us, stating that our espionage points should be equal. We have resumed espionage agaist them.

Mavericks are finally sending out boats in an attempt to meet other teams (most importantly, Merlot). We are following one boat headed towards CDZ. Quatronia has refused to sink this boat, stating that they have a NAP with Mavericks, and that they are relying on CDZ to sink the boat. Sirius has mentioned that another boat is headed our way followed by a Trireme that we have not seen. Sirius says they are relying on us to sink these boats.

7. Merlot has met Mavericks and so they should form a smaller (M&M) alliance soon to oppose us.

Religion Strategy
1. We have our own religion from getting Theology first(Christianity).

2. We plan to spread it to all of our cities, giving priority to the cities on Anjennida/Jennilund (the land between us and Sirius)

3. We plan to use temples to run priests in order to get a Great Priest and build our Christian shrine (Church of the Nativity)

Tech Strategy

1. The Tech Alliance is still moving quickly toward Astronomy, so that we can get Galleons and invade the Home Islands of the Non-Alliance teams... Mavericks and Merlot. The Alliance still needs Optics, which Quatronia is teching now. Once we have Optics we will be able to get Astronomy.

2. Overall, as the non-FIN team, we tech the slowest, so we let our allies take the lead in determining tech goals while we tech things that they are not after.

Overall Goals / Objectives (Besides Having Fun:))

We are considering running a hybrid Specialist or Commerce Economy as the backbone, while establishing the ability to convert to an Espionage Economy if necessary.

4. We want to establish a Canal/Fortress city near the center of the Map and pop the borders quickly, so that we can build Forts to use as Canals to quickly reach all the different landmasses.

War Goals/Objectives

1. We want to beat Merlot off of Marthaton (the land between us and Merlot) and try to take the whole landmass for ourselves

2. We want to isolate Merlot from any Maverick reinforcements by blocking the appraoch by land with a Canal/Fortress City in the Center of the Map

3. We want to harass the Merlot city on Marthaton and destroy their Copper Mine, trying to force them to turtle inside the city while we amass our superior troops.

Diplomacy / Foreign Relations / Conflicts

Sirius

They seem to want the role of Tech leader, and they have been trying to maximize their tech rate. They want to build the Great Library. They have their own religion through getting Code of Laws first (Confucianism). Right now, they are trying to get everyone else in the alliance to tech the techs needed for Astronomy.

There is a penninsula between us that we are negotiating to share. The only thing we have agreed on so far is that we both settle only on our respective sides. We have sent them a proposal to share the land based on a North-South dividing line, with us getting the Southern half, and them getting the Northern half. They have not responded yet. Sirius is focusing on settling Bode (the land betwen themselves and Mavericks, but they have announced claim to a barbarian city we spotted on Anjennida called "Carib."

Quatronia

We were placed in a military alliance with them and against Merlot by administrative decision of the the game admin, as a result of Quatronia attacking Merlot and Merlot attacking us. Quatronia is not participating in the War anymore, and has expressed a desire to make peace with Merlot. We have given our blessing for them to make peace for themselves if they can, but we have declined to offer Merlot any peace treaties.

CDZ

We are currently trying to establish a more long term bond with them at their request, through a treaty proposal called the Klepto-MAZON. There have been a couple rounds of revisions, and the ball is currently in their court. They have not yet responded to our latest revisions, but they seem agreeable to a deeper alliance between us. They now have access to their powerful Unique Unit, the Berserk (Mace).

Merlot

We are at War with Merlot. Merlot has a city on Marthaton called "The circus" which has access to Copper. Merlot used a Holkan to contact Mavericks by land, and now the two of them have Open Borders with each other. Neither has Alphabet yet, so they can not tech trade. Alll our espionage is set to Merlot, and it seems that all their espionage is set to us.

Mavericks

We met Mavericks Fourth. The Mavericks just recently met Merlot, meaning that all teams have met each other. They have been prioritizing wonders, and have built the Pyramids and the Oracle. Recently, they have been focused on competing with Sirius in settling Bode.

They have stopped putting their espionage against us, and we have stopped putting our esponage against them, but not through any agreement.
 
Just an update for anyone lurking/checking in...

Our private forum has been a ghost town recently, so I may stop doing the turn log, or at least taking the time to post screenies until activity/interest picks up. No point in spending all that time if no one is reading it anyway:)

3. CDZ and Quatronia almost went to war over Hoag (the land between them), but we negotiated a quasi-truce, whereby both teams agreed to stop settling Hoag and settle towards M&M instead, while a settlement agreement can be negotiated
4. We are still in a tech Alliance with Sirius, Quatronia and CDZ, called the ETTT
5. We have a Comprehensive Alliance with Sirius, called the SAP, which includes a NAP until 1000AD. CDZ knows about the NAP with Sirius
6. We have a Comprehensive Alliance with CDZ called the Klepto-MAZON, which includes a permanent NAP and obligates us to share captured Merlot land. We have not told anyone else about this treaty
7. We are third in score Overall, and we have the largest army
8. The Map consists of a Star-shaped Mainland, with each team having a small Home Island with Tons of Resources. We have Sheep, Silver, Deer, Fur, and Iron on Our Home Island. 9. We are still negotiating with Sirius to share Anjennida (the land between us) but negotiations have stalled

Religion Strategy

3. We plan to use temples to run priests in order to get a Great Priest and build our Christian shrine (Church of the Nativity)

Tech Strategy

1. Sirius is currently teching Astronomy, but we have no indication when they will have it. Once we have Astronomy, we will be able to invade the Merlot home Island.

2. The ETTT seems to all be intentionally slowing their tech rate, possibly to pursue expansion and upgrades. We are stocking up gold for upgrades, but our tech is set to Feudalism.

3. Overall, as the non-FIN team, we tech the slowest, so we let our allies take the lead in determining tech goals while we tech things that they are not after.

1. We built Nabaxica, a Canal/Fortress city near the center of the Map. Now we need to pop the borders, so that we can build Forts to use as Canals to quickly reach all the different landmasses.

2. We want to reach an amicable settlement agreement with Sirius on the settlement of Anjennida

3. We want to help Quatronia and CDZ reach an amicable settlement agreement on the settlement of Hoag (the land between them).

We have sent proposals back and forth, but their last response rejected our last proposals and instead re-assetrted their last proposal. We have not responded to this last communication.

Quatronia

We were placed in a military alliance with them and against Merlot by administrative decision of the the game admin, as a result of Quatronia attacking Merlot and Merlot attacking us. Quatronia is not participating in the War anymore, and has expressed a desire to make peace with Merlot. We have given our blessing for them to make peace for themselves if they can, but we have declined to offer Merlot any peace treaties. Quatronia is currently chasing Sirius in score, and they alternate between first and second place each turn. Since neither is gaining any new tech, they are probably expanding.

CDZ

We have a treaty with them called the Klepto-MAZON. After signing the treaty, or at least asserting that they already signed the treaty, they declared War on Merlot. They now have access to their powerful Unique Unit, the Berserk (Mace).

Merlot

We are at War with Merlot. Merlot has a city on Marthaton called "The circus" which has access to Copper. Merlot has been given complete control of Mavericks, and the Maverick players have been allowed to join Merlot if they wish.

Merlot has made great advances in military tech and is almost on par with us now. They have a stack of Crossbows on Marthaton that forced our stack to retreat to Nabaxica. We are currently marching on them with reinforcements.

They also sunk our Trireme, Georgia. Overall, we are not winning the war with Merlot, but hopefully our newly appointed General, 2metraninja, will remedy this.

Mavericks

Mavericks have quit (obsolete announced their resignation). Merlot now controls their civ.

2. Our first Holy Crusade (code-named "Operation Salamander") against Merlot failed when a Royal Crossbow force ambushed our Invasion stack of Immortals as they were camping on the coast of Southeast Marthaton, awaiting transport to MHI (Merlot Home Island)
3. A huge Maverick force and a equally huge Merlot force are marching towards Nabaxica (Our canal City in the center of the Star-mainland)
4. CDZ and Quatronia almost went to war over Hoag (the land between them), but we negotiated a quasi-truce, whereby both teams agreed to stop settling Hoag and settle towards M&M instead, while a settlement agreement can be negotiated

10. We accepted Sirius's proposal to share Anjennida (the land between us), and added terms that require them to wait for us to build Libraries there before they can build any cultural buildings. So now there is a settlement agreement, and Anjennida can be settled

1. Sirius finished Astronomy, so now we have it and have built Galleons. We are currently teching Feudalism, and Quatronia is after Printing Press. However, most allies are stocking Gold for Military upgrades.

2. Overall, as the non-FIN team, we tech the slowest, so we let our allies take the lead in determining tech goals while we tech things that they are not after.

1. We built Nabaxica, a Canal/Fortress city near the center of the Map. Now we need to pop the borders, so that we can build Forts to use as Canals to quickly reach all the different landmasses.

War Victories & Accomplishments / Defeats & Failures

The Good :thumbsup:
1. We captured and razed the Circus (Merlot's largest City on Marthaton)
2. We captured the Library (Merlot's city on the landmass shared with CDZ), however, as per the Klepto-MAZON, we must surrender this city to CDZ
3. We have clogged the Canal beween Marthaton and the Merlot/CDZ landmass with our ships and acheived Naval superiority there
4. We have recently used an amphibious raid to capture 3 Merlot workers in one fell swoop

The Bad :thumbsdown:
1. Merlot destroyed our Invasion stack before it could leave Marthaton, we lost over 10 units :(
2. Mavericks are Marching towards Nabaxica from the Western desert with a large mixed stack, in tandem with the Merlot stack approaching from the Eastern jungle. Both stacks represent a threat to capture Nabaxica, as well as a threat to capture our Anjennida cities.
3. We planned to suprise-road to destroy the Maverick stack, but a miscalculation on Worker laziness (movement penalty in desert) necessitated the disbanding of the workers.

Diplomacy / Foreign Relations / Conflicts

Sirius
We have two treaties with them, the ETTT and the SAP. Through the SAP, we are allied with them until at least 1000AD.

They seem to want the role of Tech leader, and they have been trying to maximize their tech rate. They want to build the Great Library. They have their own religion through getting Code of Laws first (Confucianism). They have been reluctant to build armies in the past, but have recently entered the fray, capturing a Maverick city.

We have reached an agreement to share the penninsula between us. This agreement requires us to settle a city on Anjennida quickly on the Northeast coast

Quatronia

We were placed in a military alliance with them and against Merlot by administrative decision of the the game admin, as a result of Quatronia attacking Merlot and Merlot attacking us. Quatronia has re-engaged in the war by building an invasion force to attack Mavericks.

Quatronia is competing with Sirius in score, and they alternate between first and second place each turn.

CDZ

We have a treaty with them called the Klepto-MAZON. After signing the treaty, or at least asserting that they already signed the treaty, they declared War on Merlot. They now have access to their powerful Unique Unit, the Berserk (Mace). They loaded Berzerks into Galleons and approached MHI as part of Operation Salamander, but when our stack was destroyed, they halted their advance. We are currently asking them to use their forces to join the fight on Marthaton to support Nabaxica, or capture the Marthaton Merlot cities

Merlot

We are at War with Merlot. Merlot has been given complete control of Mavericks, and the Maverick players have been allowed to join Merlot if they wish.

Merlot has made great advances in military tech and is almost on par with us now. They have a stack of Crossbows on Marthaton that forced our stack to retreat to Nabaxica. We are currently watching them approach Nabaxica

Overall, we are not winning the war with Merlot, but hopefully our newly appointed General, 2metraninja, will remedy this.

Mavericks

Mavericks have quit (obsolete announced their resignation). Merlot now controls their civ. Mavericks have passed CDZ in score and are very close to passing us as well. :(
 
Synopsis (What's Going On In General)
1. We are still at War with Merlot (and Mavericks). Merlot's King and turnplayer, slaze controls both Civs
2. Our first Holy Crusade (code-named "Operation Salamander") against Merlot failed
3. Our AMAZON General, 2metraninja defeated a combined assault on Nabaxica (our canal City in the center of the Starland) by a huge Maverick force and a equally huge Merlot force. The enemy was routed entirely, and the wounded were hunted down like dogs :mwaha:, and slaughtered without a shred of mercy :clap:
4. After the victory at Nabaxica, we have defeated all Merlot on Marthaton, captured all of their Marthaton cities, and chased them into the sea, back to their homes on Merlot Home Island (MHI). CDZ assisted us, and we ended up trading a captured city on Troisland to them for a captured city on Marthaton. We have now completely settled Marthaton.
5. CDZ and Quatronia appear to still be abiding by the terms of the agreement over Hoag, whereby both teams agreed to stop settling Hoag until a settlement agreement was reached... meanwhile a barb city has appeaared in the unsettled space
6. We are still in a tech Alliance with Sirius, Quatronia and CDZ, called the ETTT
7. We have recently amended our Comprehensive Alliance with Sirius, called the SAP, by lengthening the NAP to 1500 AD (approx 50 turns). CDZ knows about the NAP with Sirius, but they do not know how long it is
8. We have a Comprehensive Alliance with CDZ called the Klepto-MAZON, which includes a permanent NAP and obligates us to share captured Merlot land. Sirius knows about the NAP with CDZ

10. We accepted Sirius's proposal to share Anjennida. We have settled all our alloted land on Anjennida, but Sirius has not. Their culture is currently choking several of our Anjennida cities
11. The Map consists of a Star-shaped Mainland, called Starland, with each team having a small Home Island with Tons of Resources. We have Sheep, Silver, Deer, Fur, and Iron on Our Home Island. The Spokes of the star, going clockwise from the North are called Anjennida, Marthaton, Troisland, Hoag, Comet, and Bode. The spokes alternate between a spoke with Marble, Ivory, Horse, Banana and a spoke with Stone, Copper, Incense, Cow

Religion Strategy
1. We have our own religion from getting Theology first(Christianity). We also obtained the Islamic Holy City in a trade with CDZ.
2. Our plans to spread our religion have been postponed due to the ongoing war with Merlot
3. We have not decided when or where yet, but eventually, we plan to use temples to run priests in order to get a Great Priest and build our Christian shrine (Church of the Nativity). Currently, we have no plans to spread Islam.

Tech Strategy
1. We currently plan to steal Guilds and Gunpowder from Merlot in rapid succesion. The Spies are already in place and the Espionage points are already earned. We are waiting for Merlot to get Gunpowder (1 turn)
2. Because the ETTT allies have all been stockpiling gold for military upgrades, the tech has lagged allowing the evil M&M Axis to get Guilds before us
3. Sirius and Quatronia were both teching Nationalism at the same time, wasting research, but now Quatronia should be teching Printing Press and Sirius, having finished Nationalism, will tech Constitution next
4. Overall, as the non-FIN team, we tech the slowest, so we let our allies take the lead in determining tech goals while we tech things that they are not after. As of right now we plan to tech Banking next (according to how the latest poll is going)
5. Sirius is recommending that the ETTT pursue Rifling or Steel next

Overall Goals / Objectives (Besides Having Fun:))

1. We built Nabaxica, a Canal/Fortress city near the center of the Map. We popped the borders once. Now we need to pop the borders, again so that we can build Forts to use as Canals to quickly reach all the different landmasses.
2. We want to keep creating Mis-matches (4 on 1, then 3 on 1, then 2 on 1) through our alliances and Diplomacy to keep ourselves in the game.
3. We dominate in espionage. We want to maintain dominance in espionage. We got our 1st Great Spy and settled him, giving our capital 22:espionage:/turn, and the second buit Scotland Yard, giving us 44 base:espionage:/turn
4. We want to build Versailes in Vandal to reduce our maintenance costs. We already have turns invested and will resume construction when Vandal finishes its Forge (1 turn)

War Goals/Objectives

1. We want to invade and conquer MHI, elimminating Merlot ASAP. We are currently discussing different ways to accomplish this.
2. We want to continue to isolate Merlot from any Maverick reinforcements by blocking the appraoch by land with Nabaxica, our Canal/Fortress City in the Center of the Map
3. We want to capture the isolated Mavs city, "Option B" at the base of Comet and use it as a bargaining chip with CDZ and Quatronia

1. The Evil M&M Axis has mobilized heavily, and both have HUGE armies that dwarf the ETTT's military

Diplomacy / Foreign Relations / Conflicts

Sirius
We have two treaties with them, the ETTT and the SAP. Through the SAP, we are allied with them until at least 1500AD. We have also reached an agreement to share the penninsula between us.

They are the Tech leader, and score leaders and they have been trying to maximize their tech rate. They built Great Library. They have their own religion through getting Code of Laws first (Confucianism). They recently lost many soldiers to the Mavs, but they seem to be rebuilding their army.

Quatronia
Quatronia also lost many troops to Mavs recently, but the continue to blockade and harass Mavs from the sea, threatening their coastal cities and forcing their armies on Comet and Mavs home Island to stay home. We have no seperate treaties with Quatronia. They are the only ETTT partner that we have no seperate treaty with.

CDZ
We have a treaty with them called the Klepto-MAZON. After signing the treaty, they declared War on Merlot. They assisted us in defeating Merlot on Marthaton. We are currently waiting for their response to a proposal that we plan a second joint invasion of MHI.

Merlot
We are at War with Merlot. Merlot has made great advances in military tech and has passed the ETTT in terms of Military tech, getting Guilds first and getting close to Gunpowder. Overall, we are winning the war with Merlot, but our efforts against them have stalled as we consider the best way to invade their well defended home island

Mavericks
Mavericks have quit (obsolete announced their resignation). Merlot now controls their civ. They have the largest army in the game and seem to be feeding cash to Merlot, so that Merlot can do the bulk of the teching
