America doesn't have the best health care by results. It has the best health care by low wait times. We absolutely pay through the nose for those low wait times, but we NEED them.

What low wait times are you refering to? I had to have my elbow worked on and had to wait 5 weeks. Is that quick enough for you?

You must not be a real American. Real Americans know that in France they'd have had to wait even longer. They certainly don't read things like the World Health Organization 2000 Health Report to get more objective measures.

What is a real American to you? I take offence at that remark. Do you have experience in how long the wait in France is? Or did Rush tell you?

Someone from Alaska, unless they're a liberal, or someone from South Carolina, unless they're actually from North Carolina, is a real American.

And if I had to go by experience other than what I heard on the radio I wouldn't be a real American.

But Rush is soooo 2006. Now I freebase tobacco using a Texan-natural gas lighter and the barrel of a Colt '45 pistol. Then I watch Glenn Beck and the baccy rush blurs things enough that I think he's the Rushter, but sensitive and funny. It's like Heaven.

(In other words, I've written exactly 2 sentences in this thread - maybe counting this one, maybe not, I'm not saying - that weren't tongue-in-cheek if not just farcical. If you want to be offended by something be offended by the fact that, as idiotic as what I wrote was, the "national discourse" is so bad that it could actually be taken seriously. You damned hippy.)

I wish this was true because while I love my Grandparents, they've been leeching for almost 1/3rd their life now. I wouldn't have a problem if retirement age was higher either.

:lol::goodjob: Classic.

Tarquelne, That explains alot. All I have to say is that if you and your expination of a real American are true, I would be proud not to be one!

I lived in South Carolina for 4 years. I was married to a teacher who taught at the 'wrong' high school - the one that catered to the children of textile mill workers instead of the affluent aristocracy and the relatively small middle class. Typically, 2-4 students each year out of a graduating class of 500 or so would go to college. The rest looked forward to working in the mills for the rest of their lives, while making slightly more than minimum wage as their parents and grandparents had done.

We could .Shane., but I think if the Reps. keep acting the way they are acting they will lose even more of their voting base and be a minor party.

No, no, no, Miles. The Republicans are right. It would kill old people. Not directly, but because they can't wait.

Why? Some European socialists say it's because we're just impatient. Or stupid. What they don't recognize is that we have to get back to work so we don't lose our job, and thus our health insurance. It's certainly not likely that insurance has a generous sick-leave policy.

It's a very simple and sensible system, really. And "uniquely American", which is apparently *always* a good thing.

Of course much of that doesn't apply to retired old people. I guess they're just impatient.

Which is why, of all the post-industrial nations, we're the one with the highest life expectancy.

So there you have it. It's not a wacky reactionary conspiracy theory after all. mrt actually believes it would be beneficial to society as a whole to kill everybody once they have outlived their 'usefulness'.

yes, he is, but a copy/paste error put it at page 426.

I voted based on my hopes.
