Another great leader for Finland:
Johan August Sandels (he was actually a Swede, but he was the most successful commander during the Swedish-Russian war of Finland in 1808-1809) I'll keep on seaching, but finding great leaders turned out to be harder than I though. Partly so because Mannerheim got all the credit for WW2. But if you approve mythological leaders, then you should also add Väinämöinen.

J. A. Sandels ... unless I'm misremembering, he later became the last Swedish Field Marshal. For the last Serb GL, I suggest Karadjordje. He led the rebellion against the Turks, and became the first Prince of independent Serbia in 1812. Karadjordje is, BTW, a nick-name meaning "Black George", but it stuck well enough that the dynasty he founded is known as Karadjordjevich. (I guess there's no need to point out that there's a few options for spelling this name too. I've not seen it in English enough times to know what's the commonest version, but "Karadjordje" is the least alien-looking!) |

Here is where we are now :
Morocco : Mawlay Idriss, ibn Tashufin, ibn Tumart, Abd al-Mumin (Complete) Hungary : Arpad, Hunyadi, Mathias Corvin, Geysa (Complete) Serbia : Stefan Nemania, Saint Sava, Stefan Dushan, Karadjordje (Complete) Finland : Mannerheim, Jaakko Ilkka, Sandels, Väinämöinen (Complete) Ireland : O'Neil, O'Connell (2 missing) Portugal, Austria, Netherlands : Those in Conquests. Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Scotland, Romania : None for now. Well, it's improving ! I'm fine with Sandels and Väinämöinen since, as finn, you think that's the best to represent Finland. If someone has Conquests, could he give to me the name of the Austrian, Portuguese and Dutch great leaders ? By the way, Yoda Power, since you have Conquests, could you create a Conquests version of the map ? Unfortunately, I don't have the game so I couldn't test it, but at least, I could post it on this thread. Talking about Conquests, does anyone know if they will sell Civilization 3 as a standalone including both expansion pack (PTW and Conquests) ? I ask so because I didn't see it in my store. Oh, and by the way Yoda, If I choose 116x94 instead of 100x100, it was to respect my original model. It's been really hard for me tod determine where was the optimistic position for map borders... should we see Caucasus, Iceland ? Should Scandinavia be "insular" (needing boat to meet other civs) ? I've posted here my original map model. Of course, I've been inspired by several other map for climate, relief and ressources. I'm glad by the way there's so few people yelling on how I've put ressources in the map, however, If you aren't happy about it, don't be shy and tell it ! Here's the map : |

Still playing with the first version of the game. Going great so far, even started an hotseat game with it (2 human, going great).
And my single player game is almost in the Industrial ages (saving that for tomorrow) and (on monarch) its easy but hard at the same time. |

Thanx Yoda
![]() Your version has been added to the zip file in the first post of this thread. Wildfire, that's great, thanx. Do you know if there's a way for me to download your save game ? Unfortunately, I think save files are too large for Civfanatics.

Is there any chance of a standard CIVIII version of this?
Failing that, is there a tool I can use to convert biqs to bics? |

Sjorrel : Well... the map is actually already standard. It's 116x96 which is almost 100x100. In my game which is almost in the modern era, I have no lag with 256 mb of RAM.
calgacus : Thanx a lot ! I'll add your names as soon as I'll have some times to do it. WildFire : Okay I've seen your game . You've played with 24 civs ! You're courageous! Did you enjoy playing on that map ? (After all, here's the essential)Yoda Power : I've seen your version of the map. I liked a lot the sandy coast (plains) on the atlantic coast. You're totally right, it's far more realistic. I also enjoy the plains in Russia. Moreover, to remove the forest in Hungary is also a good idea . However, I enjoyed less the mountains between Germany and Poland. It doesn't look realistic. When I've created the map, I decided to put mountains where there are pikes above 2,000 m high. It's not at all the case there. Anyway, most of your changes are good ideas. The Last Conformist : Thanx again for your names ! If we do a mix between your names and Calgacus' I guess we could give all there GL's to each civ. You deserve my worship .Everyone : I'm sorry if I didn't answer before. Actually, I've bought Conquests ! I'm working on a scenario now (my first !). It's taking me a lot of time ! The scenario is called (for now) : "July 1914 : On the Eve of War" There's 20 nations and 266 cities. Hope it won't lag. Anyway, here is how look the map of it : EDITED : The image has been changed to put Cyprus as British. Last edited by Marla_Singer; Nov 27, 2003 at 01:39 PM. |

The mountains between germany and poland are the the mountains surounding Bohemia, the reason I put them is for them to work as a natural border(which they are).
Your scenario looks great! BTW Cyrpess were British at the time ![]() edit-Do you use any new units in the scenario? If not I suggest you do, there are some exelent ww1 units around these forums. |

To be honnest, I don't really know how to represent the armies in that scenario. Should I put only Riflemen, Cavalry, Artillery and Ironclad ? What should be the size of each army ? That's the kind of question I'm wondering. Moreover, I don't know which multi-figure units to take. PS : The Conquest version I've bought is in french. Which means that the scenario would have to be translated in english when it'll come out. Well, we'll talk about it later. |

Well, the British had something like 28 battleships by July '14, so that unit should definitely be in. And the Rifleman graphics are way too mid-19th C - use the Infantry, which looks pretty WWIesque.

Ok The Last you're right. Most of civs will get replaceable parts (Except some balkan countries and the ottoman empire).
![]() So here are the units I want to add : - Expeditionary Corpse : A kind of cheaper and less efficient Infantry. - Machine Gunners : An artillery that could move faster even if it's less efficient. - Special Forces : Great attack units but very expensive (training costs). - Mustard Gas : A kind of "cruise missle" but cheaper and less efficient. For the Special Forces, I'll just edit the guerilleros which we don't need that much (I think, tell me if I'm wrong). I'll make it invisible (like submarins). For the Mustard Gas, I'll do the same. I'll edit the cruising missile. However, I've downloaded new graphics for the machine gunners and the expeditionary corpse... and I didn't succeed to add it to the editor ! I've done everything people told me to do. I've created a folder with the same name than my scenario. I've added in a art\units\ folder in which I've put the .ini file, the sound and the .flc files. After that. I've added another folder called text in which I've copied civilopedia.txt and PediaIcons.txt. Then I've edited PediaIcons.txt to add new entries for the new units. Finaly, I went in my editor, I've written the name of my folder in the scenario properties menu, and I've added a new unit in which I've written PRTO_Machine_Gunners as the civilopedia article. The trick is that the new icon doesn't appear ! Should it appears with the last number (207) for the icon ? I don't understand ! It makes me mad ! ![]() Please help me ! I know I asked already so much from me but I really don't know what to do next ![]() Thanx.
