There is an old Bakusu proverb,
Man is like a palm on the beach; moving with the wind of life.

Otherwise excellent as usual.
Especially liked the soundtrack!

Great work, Zachriel! I look forward to the next chapter of your epic! Thanks for putting that much time into your work. It certainly shows. The site was quite slow, and I'm thinking that is because there are countless others viewing your excellence. All that traffic had brought the server to a crawl, but I waited patiently. When the content is as good as yours, I'll gladly wait.

Nice game summary... Excellent job on the website design. One comment though: I use Netscape v7 and the background music doesn't play with that browser... just FYI.

Superb job as usual. The literary Jeanne D'Arc epic is still my favourite, but this one was colourful and inspiring.

Hi Zachriel,

Excellent story, you are amazing me every month again!

Where do you get these quotes? Is there a source for them or are you making them up (great imagination if you make them up)?

What happened to the last two chapters? When I was trying to read them, I only got a picture of Lincoln and happy holloween. Something wrong with my browser or with your website?

best regards

Ronald

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I tend to read this website at work. While I have no personal objection to it, there is some nudity on Zachriel's storyline here. If you find this objectionable please beware. Be EXTRA careful if you read this stuff at work (some people at my job would object to even "culturally acceptable toplessness" that some african women practice).

Zachriel I don't wish you to compromise your artistic integrity but if you do this again could you place a warning somewhere, like in the post here? I'd really appreciate it!

Otherwise, as usual, absolutely superb!

Server load has been rather heavy lately due to the unexpected popularity of Shaka's Fist. Try again. That last two chapters are worth it, I think, especially the STACK of TOTAL CONTROL.

(I have no idea where the Lincoln picture came from. )

Sorry about that. But they really do dress like that in parts of Africa, and I find it very beautiful and appropriate. Think National Geographic.

(I will consider a warning next time. Let me see Aztecs. Ripping their beating hearts out as an act of piety.

Kid: Why can't we go see the sacrifice?
Mom: Not till you do your homework.
Kid: Then can we go?
Mom: Yes, then we can go. I hear they are going to sacrifice a thousand virgins.
Kid: What's a virgin?)

Anyway, I agree that not everyone may share my "appreciation" of traditional African costumes, so I added a warning on the main page to account for varying tastes. Thanks!

They are real, traditional Proverbs and Sayings of Africa.

I wanted to depict Shaka as a man of learning and wisdom. Having unified the African people, I thought the fictional Shaka could draw together the knowledge of the various tribes. Just the names of the tribes -- the Bakusu, the Nilotic, the Luyia, the Bateke, the Tumbuka -- add a lot of flavor to the storyline.

He, who learns, teaches.

Shaka's Wisdom

Wonderful stuff. You really get a feel for each culture and that adds so much to the accounts. I love the pix and sayings....

Of course you ought to go back and play GOTM 1-4 so we can read those accounts too!

I read it at work - sneaking behind the monitor as per ususa. Got funny looks when the drums started.

Zachriel, how do you manage to get all of those proverbs and cultural tidbits? I must say, your last two reports have been your best so far.

(At least now you are using threads to advertise, not just individual posts )

The story of Shaka's Fist also depicts Shaka's Spear, Shaka's Shield, Shaka's Eyes and Shaka's Hand Outstretched. But the story is entitled Shaka's Fist. Why?

Shaka's Fist was told to make the point -- a point that experienced players and students of history know -- when you commit to war, you must commit totally. You must gather all your strength, risk all your strength, and pledge your Civilization to the success of your attack.

If you piecemeal your attacks, then when you are repulsed, the enemy will heal, will promote, and will reinforce. Be patient. Gather your strength. If you do, then when war does come, your soldiers will suffer less -- and just as important, your citizens, new and old, will be able to enjoy the fruits of your victory.

Create an army to match your ambitions and you will succeed.
