The game has begone. Xerxes has founded Persepolis which will forever be the oldest and most glorious city in this new world (unless one of you buggers razes it off course :) )

I presume that each person plays the game and emails it on manually to the next one? Sorry about the newbie question

Oh, one more: how much will it mess up the game when I can't play at all this Sunday? (I don't think my younger brother would forgive me for missing his birthday - he'll be 21...)

Don't worry Anarres! :) Just check your mail on a regular basis and play ASAP. This game won't die because of one day. Remember there are 8 players so progress will be slow. We use MSN for contacting other players when you want to.

How to play a PBEM:
When you recieve a game: copy it in the saves folder and open PTW and click load game on the main menu. Locate the savegame and load it. After you finish your turn you are prompted te save the game and exit, sent de savegame to the next player this completes the cycle.

First time you give up a password (for yourself, write it down). Each time you recieve the game you will be asked for it.

PLEASE DO NOT DISPLAY MY EMAIL WITHOUT SOME ANTI-SPAM TEXT IN THERE

Sorry about caps, but this is urgent. You can use this format for displaying in the post:
civ3PBEM_AT_danwilliamson.net

I get legitimately paranoid about my personal email being displayed on public pages on the internet. I have had to close previous email accounts because of spiders picking it up from usenet and other forums. 200 spams a day is not nice.

Edit: The next time you don't see an 'edit' sign you will know I have learnt to spell

Thanks ProPain :)

Also, if I am not able to recieve on my normal email, you can always use my normal spam-mail address:

danwilliamson_AT_hotmail.com

Erikk, I'm not so much worried about lt. killer knowing where to send his mail but I do worry if you know how send it to lt Killer in the first place.

Anarres: don't you love your hotmail spam? free diploma's, advertisements for products in languauges you can't even understand, and of course the daily truckload of porn pages trying to persuade you to give them your credit card number (is this why it's called hotmail??).

Where do these people actually live from?

folks, why do I display an email address in my sig? So you can look at it and enjoy the colors?

use it, please ;)

anarres: no sweat, I can decipher this ;)

oh, one other important thing: as we all know the display fot hings that happened isn't there - so we should email the 'victim' if we do something to someone! Otherwise people loose units and never know how! There is a huge difference bewteen a unit dying from disease and by the swords of someone elses units :)

Well now at least it's obvious that I never pay attention to anyones sig. Especially those colorfull, large font ones I tend to ignore ;)

I'll paste your email in killer.

Can we agree of the information about battles we should post?

For example, it Lt. 'Killer' M attacks my spearman with 3 swordsmen, only killing it on the last, there should be a post here saying exacly that. It is important to me that 2 swordsmen died first before the last one killed it.

Any objections, or are things done differently in PBEM games?

anarres: we should include everything the other player would see in Civ3! This includes passing units and ships, or units of a third party killed IMO.

If we allow off-line deals to be negotiated (to speed it up in game turns), can we agree that you are not allowed to offer something you don't have?

For example, if this rule were not in effect, I could offer Matrix Democracy to see what he will offer back, even if I don't have Democracy. As I could refuse whatever he offered me, Matrix would never know if I had it or not. If Martix thought I was lying about my offer he might lie back - this would then become a war of propaganda and ruin the off-line offers totally.

This kind of tactic is a low one in my opinion, and shouldn't be allowed. I think off-line offers should only be made from your available resources.

On its way to Redwatch.

I agree with the no-lying policy. Making false offers would really ruin the game, so let's keep it "civilized" ;).

On my starting position: Why do I never get cows? There isn't really much to tell this early in the game though, maybe there's tons of luxuries and cows waiting around the corner. :)

So what difficulty level is this game? I have read elsewhere that it defaults to a really easy level - this is essential to know for happiness levels.

It's gonna be weird if I can grow to size 2 without a police unit...
