Screenshot of the Day #94: Barbarian Worker

How did this happen? Did he mod a civilization called Barbaria?

That's the only reasonable explanation...

I actually received 3 separate SOTD submissions on Barbarian workers.

Here is another one from Alex Crawsaw:

"I has just abandoned a German settlement that flipped to me and I was moving the settler to build a city at the northern chokepoint. At this point, I decided to send the immortal escort back south and this is was I saw."

And another one from hbdragon, with explanation:

"This is an odd SOTD until you know how it happened. To see what would happen, I went into Civ 3 Edit and made a few Barbarian settlers, just to see if they'd establish a city. They didn't for three turns and I just ran them over and got two workers in the bag."

yeah i've modded the game to see if barbarians built settlers. What ended up happening was i had a bunch of barbarian workers and hundreds of cruise missiles (the advanced barbarian).

If you add the worker to a city he'll be unhappy do to agression against the mother country. They also look weird in the city.

If you could make barbarian cities, would they be treated as a seperate civilization, with borders? The whole barbarian city thing confuses me

were you able to capture the cruise missiles, or did they get destroyed when you moved into their square? That's like free cruise missles. . .

I was going to send in my barbarian worker screenshot last night, but I don't know where to send it & I couldn't have been bothered to find out. I had go and to play my game, Operation Flashpoint, which is almost, but not completely, unlike Civ3.

Oh well, looks like I missed out on getting screenshot of the day. If anyone wants me I'll be over in the corner, sulking.

IIRC, the game listing captured workers as of 'barbarian' nationality was a bug that was fixed back at 1.17f.

All right! :) :D A screenshot saved. I sent that one awhile ago, I remember...that was later deleted when I thought it wasn't too great. It was my third one that I saved to my hard drive.

How come there was a barbarian settler? :hm: When you capture settlers, they become workers...unless there were two barbarian workers added and a settler built. :) That's probably it.

Until I found out other people are finding barbarian workers too, I was going to accuse this screenshot of editing. Its easy to do in PTW, just rename it "(Barbarian)" and it will come out that way.

But now that it seems others are finding that same thing, Ill have to take that back. ;)

the worker was built in a captured city

True
On a version prior to v1.29f, i captured a city.
Every worker i popped from this city was labeled as a barbarian city (happened to me several time)
Unfortunately, when i moved to v1.29f, these barbarian workers made the game crash (everytime i would click on them to activate them, or that its their turn to moce)

I guess this was part of a fix Firaxis provided.

Edit:
To Sparrow: sorry i did not see your post.
I just confirmed your saying ;)

i dunno if its just me but your civ PTW landscape seems to be split up into different 'fields' - all different shades like they are growing different stuff there.

And you got smily faces, etc by you resources/luxeries

Mine is looks a little different, not as good too :(, any thoughts on this?
