Hi,

this is a PTW map centered around Egypt but including as well Nubia, Ethiopia, Babylonia, South of Greece and Turkey, western Persia.
Its size is 100*100 making it playable. The desert mass compensates for the lack of water.

There are two versions (A & B) and two more soon (C & D)

Map A : no resources whatever (for modders)

Map B : PTW resources to make the map playable (some terrains flags will be changed for resources).

Map C : accurate ressources (new resource file will be included and some rules will be changed).

Map D : historic cities will be placed (no nationality changed though) for those who want to make a mod/scenario out of it.

First is the A Map. Before providing the others I would like some people to give me their impressions on the first one so that I don't need to change some features four times.

Two notes : it is not possible to sail between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. If one needs that possibility, just create a coast on the right, that won't change the accuracy of the map so much but will add playability. Second; a few oasis are scattered in the deserts, some for real locations (Medina, Palmyra and Petra) the others are more or less random to create "barbaric" tribes in the desert.

Map B - playable

11 starting locations (Egypt, Minoans, Israel, Syria, Ninive, Babylon, Persia, Quatar, Nubia, Ethiopia, Arabia, Yemen), resources (more or less accurate so not overly balanced) placed.
Terrain and map size abilities changed so that the map hosts 11 civs and that resources can be found in different terrains.

Advice: change desert and hills so that they cannot support cities.

Nice map :goodjob:

Well, I hoped YOU would like maybe not this very map but at least this type of.
If it were possible to create real scenarios, that would be proper for an Egyptian one.

Since you are a specialist, anything that needs to be corrected ?
:)

The samll river "oasis" that fill the african and arabian deserts are a little strange but help with the game play i'm actually in the middle of putting in civs from the region in to one that i've downloaded.:)

I just had a quick overnight game. This map rocks! c'est magnifique (I think thats how you spell it) 6/5.

P.s. This game was rather strange 'cause i forgot to put in any resources at all so all the civs went the game with no decent units only a few civs could build there UU's

Thanks for the "C'est magnifique" (spelled correctly alright !).

You can use map B for play. Map A is for modders.

I've put in my own civs again haven't played it yet probably later but i can't wait cause i've also got some leaderheads i want to test as well. i hope it doesn't last as long as Map A:D

I am not quite sure I understand. What is long ? A game on map A ?

 Man you must be mad. I mean you should have waited for Map B (;) ) !

Good night then !

About the map: I chose not not put hills everywhere in Persia so I put the big mountain lines (twin Zagros,...), the rest is mixture of plains, deserts and hills and I hope the result gives a certain accuracy to the map. After all, high plains are not represented by anything special in the game terrains.

Enjoy ! ...

... and sleep sometimes

This is a picture I took. Nice map.:goodjob:

Map D is not for play, it is a reference tool !

Drewcifer, thanks for the preview again.

Very nice map! :) This map would definitely be good for a scenario based on say about 3000-2000 BC or so, civ's like the Sumerians and Egyptians.
