I'm home, where are you?
Another Japanese unit... This one made to look similar to the Otomo units included in the PTW Extras folder. Model based on a sketch by Kal-el.

Awsome :goodjob:

Well its been said before but I will say it again:

You Rock! :)

Im looking forward to you american stuff. Are you planing any Euro units?

Well I was thinking of slipping a medieval assassin based on Kal-el's sketch in between some of my Native American units... Just thinking about how do animate that large cloak... :) I love a challenge... But I also need to work on my lizardmen for the WH mod... Busy Busy Busy... I hope to get one unit a week animated, at least until I run out of the models I already have made. So I don't really know what might come after the NA stuff.

I don't know nothin' about Japanese military history (I'm reading that pulp novel Shogun right now, though), so what's the deal with a swordsman replacing the stone-age warrior guy? Were the Japanese runnning around with stone swords in the Otomo age or something? Obviously I'm ignorant, please help to fix it! :)

Lovely unit kinboat, I always think your human units are some of the best on the boards.

I'm a bit confused as to the military history of japan myself, they seem to have so many more specialised units than any other nation. Its all a bit bewildering. :)

I'm not sure about the otomo swordsman being the same as the civ warrior though, dompedro made a good japanese warror a little while ago armed with a bamboo spear.
Could some of these units be used for china, korea or manchuria? It seems odd to have so many for an island not much bigger than britain, spanning a time period of only a few hundred years.

As far as I know the japanses armies of the time (as well as the civil administration and many customs) were copied and developed from mainland china, So I guess some of the less specialised units could easily be medieaval chinese units.

I would say, that all these Japanese units could go for chinese and korean (and some even mongolian) units.

That's the way I'm using the ptw units in my private mod ;)

Great unit

Do you know what we really need now? Some Japanese cavalry :D

EDIT: my one criticism of the unit would be that's a little dark

I put the Otomo Swordsman in at the Warrior Spot because it came before the other units, but it definitely came after the cavemen. :) I was struggling with trying to decide whether to put the Otomo Swordsman with the regular swordsman or use the Bushi there.

The reason for all the "extra" units is for any scenarios.

I would agree that the Otomo units could be used for China, Korea, and Mongolia, but the later units (except for the oda arquebusier, the ninja and the warrior monk) are definitely Japanese and don't look like the Mainland armies at all.

Some of the Japanese units can be used for all asian nations. This is how I would do(the units from Kal-els list):

Japanese Settler-all asian
Japanese Worker-all asian
Otomo units-all asian exept Mongol
Shoni no Kagesuke-Japan only
Bushi-all asian exept Mongols and China. Only Japan should use the flag version.
Ashiguru Footman-all, only Japan should use flag version.
Ashiguru Spearman-Japan only
Samurai units-Japan only
Oda Arquebusier-all asian
Kensai-Japan only
Ninja-all asian
Warrior Monk-all asian
Nakamaro Horseman-Japan only

Nice work Kinboat! I hope you plan to make more fantasy units as well. ;) [Hrm lizardmen sounds good anyways, maybe I will use those as well as a race, depends that how many lizard units you plan to make.]

Awesome attack animations :)
Better than any sword attack I've seen.

As for the japanese unit line - I don't think it can be used as warrior. That sword is far from the stone age... DonPedro's (I think) Jomon is perfect jap warrior. This should be later unit, assuming that there are enough spots to fill (original Civ3/PTW have too few).
