I'm home, where are you?
Mongolian Horde done at Cracker's request for the newest GOTM.

First there is the Golden Horde unit itself. Basicly a multi-unit rendered all at once in one frame and with four different models :)

Then I've broken each of the riders off into their own unit. The last one has an extra animation, he dismounts and walks over to the pack horse. Cracker suggested this for use as a settle animation.

These files are somewhat large.

to get the GOTM that includes this unit and look at a few more previews. The GOTM has the unit setup with a civilopedia text and stats, while these downloads are just the FLCs and civilopedia images.

very nice...

you guys think it'd be justified to make them replace Mongolian settler, medieval infantry, etc. etc. even though the Mongolian civ wouldn't necessarily have learned horseback riding yet, and they didn't have an extra movement point?

Top Notch! Incredible. Kinboat, I've noticed you've gotten increasingly lifelike with your animations. Are you doing them yourself? or getting them from other sources?

Well the horse run animation is a heavily modified version of one I downloaded for the Poser Horse (making my own model required me to fiddle with it a lot). The guy walking is done with the help of the walk designer from Poser but again I needed a lot of modifying to get it to fit my model. All the others are entirely original.
aaminion00, I would use it that way... Or maybe when horseback riding is researched have it replace the settler for the mongolians and give it two movement.

Kinboat, you've outdone yourself! Good job!:goodjob:

i'm happy enough as it is but... you think you could make a version of that Mongolian settler without the horse?

Yea, really cool!
Could I make a request for a more detailed unit, I mean, two attack animations, the first we see the rider firing its bow, the second it gets a spear from its back and uses it, that would be really cool! :)

Beautiful, Kinboat! Simply beautiful! I downloaded the GOTM just so I could reap the harvest, but you've saved me the trouble of sifting through that... :D

I really have to say that you're animations are absolutely perfect. There was a time when I would have said that Balou came the closest to producing an authentic-looking Civ3 unit that could pass for something made by the makers. You have most certainly met that standard now.

I was playing Civ the other day (the first time in many months I must say) and I had incorporated a number of your Japanese units alongside the PtW units, and it was absolutely seamless. In fact, the only sore thumb was my Jomon Warrior. Admittedly, I think my units are somewhat crap by comparison to others here... in so much that other people's just fit in so much better in the game.

I'm interested to know what you're next intended project is, and I also wonder if you might post some of the models you've made because I'd like to do my part and make some Mongolian ground units and some Mesoamerican units as well.

If LouLong is reading this, I just want to say that I'm sorry that I've fallen so terribly behind on the Cut and Paste project, but that 1) I've been moving to a newer faster computer and there's a lot of important files buried in the other machine i have to dig out, 2) that my life has been completely out of control, and also I've only just recently gotten out of the hospital, but I'm going to try to take my free time while I'm home to make some new units and clean up my old units to make them look better for Civ.

I'm sorry they're not riding cows Mongoloid Cow... But I'm glad you like them anyway :)

Give me some time to work them up into a package and I'll post some of the models.
Well I have some lizardmen to wrap up and then get back to doing more of the Native American models I worked up.

Kinboat if you are doing a Native American archer would this be possible: To put the animation from the American archer onto another archer model?
