Open ground! And no, I peeked when I first saw your post :p
I wanted something new ;)

really, JK? you dissapoint me...

Yeah, I disappoint myself as well.

I was referring to Alexander II of Russia. The riddle just says out of dark, not out of dark middle age". If that's the case, I'd have to say Charlemagne.

yepp I know Alexander ii, and of russia yes, it was a hint , surely out of dark and middle age was additional hint and its later than charlesmagne "Karl der Große" of Franks, out of middle age leading to modern age

earlier than Alexander or Meijji

Louis XIV?

ohhhhhhh Peter the great

Nowhere to be seen, until succession was clean,
Peter Alexeiwich was born 30.May 1672. He was the first son of second Naryschkin Line for Succssession. Palace Revolution with the Strelitzia brought question, who should become Tsar of Russia.
Always at strike, never to convince,
As all Romanov kings before him, he drives to make Russia a modernized European power.
Denying tradition, upholding modernization,
So to let people cut their beards, later building Saint Petersburg for ships. Winning Great Nordic War against arch-enemy Sweden defeating "Carl of Sweden".
Coming out of the Dark, enlightning a whole world.
Huuuge impact on Russian Emp to compete European countries.

Stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was time for a change
Killed the Tszar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
Rolled the tanks down the ranks
When the Blitzkrieg raged
And the Bodies stank
I watched with glee while
you kings and queens
fought for the god you made
I shouted out,
"Who killed the Kennedys?"
When after all
It was you and me
Hope you guessed my name
