(PC) Civ4 and (Mac) Civ4 compatible?

In regards to direct IP games? I know the Mac Civ4 version isn't out yet, but does anyone have an idea if Mac users and PC users will be able to play online against each other? Were you able to in Civ3?

I have a friend that only has a Mac and he wants to play with my group of PC users online. Any response appreciated!

Civ3 players can't, and Mac users only got Civ3 multiplayer capability three months ago.

Civ4 players hope to be able to, but the game isn't even a stable in-house alpha test version on OS X yet as far a I can tell from Aspyr's lead engineer's comments. So optimism, but no guarantees.

Your friend had better have an up-market Mac. Mine won't be capable of playing Civ4 as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the information!! I really hope the are compatible, I heard that they were expecting the Mac version released this summer. That might be alittle premature from what you are saying, I'll keep my fingers crossed that they will have it done on time and compatiable....
