thoughts on playing Venice and moving settler

Just me or does it seem like wasting a few turns to pick a better spot with Venice almost always pays off. Seems like they always give me the second best spot around. after a turn or two i generally find a much better spot to settle. This is true with almost all civs but i generally don't bother moving as i can pick up the resources with my next city. Also i find moving inland many times gives me a legendary start.
