Deity-help/tips

Hello all.
I usually like to play on king but I have played on higher levels and beaten the AI. The highest I've played is immortal and I've yet to advance into Deity. With BNW coming out, I thought my first game could be a shot at Deity. Are there any tips or advice you could offer me for winning deity. Is Deity all that different from Immortal? Is the jump between them that big?

I would not recommend that your first BNW game be a Deity game. New mechanics alone are going to take some getting used to. Stick with Immortal or Emperor for a couple of games. Then play Portugal on a water map (a bit more forgiving map type at Deity and looks to be a fun civ that will have access to more gold and luxuries than most).
