Which 5 crucial historical events shaped the history of this world's civilization?
Would the discovery of America/New World make the list?

What are you defining as "civilization"
What are you defining as "an event"
What are you defining as "significant" and "shaped"

(1) The invention of the personal computer
(2) The release of Civilization I
(3) The release of Civilization II
(4) The release of Civilization III
(5) The release of Civilization IV.

1) Jesus Christ
2) Nikolae Tesla's work in electricity
3) the internal combustion engine
4) the League of Nations
5) the Atom Bomb

From early historic times, i suppose the Greek-Persian wars, concluding with Alexander.

Other than that, i am not sure. 1204 was obviously crucial, including the 15th century search for the new world.

In no order

* Birth/Death/Resurrection of Jesus Christ
* Birth and life of Mohammed
* Constantine the Great moving the Roman capital to Byzantium/making Christianity the official religion of the Roman empire
* Flight
* Invention of printing press

Which leaves out gunpowder, reformation, silicon chip, internet, discovery of new world, Alexander the Great, pax Romana....

To be fair, regardless of how you define any of these categories, the Columbian Exchange is still going to be an automatic first place, so he's not wrong on that count.
