Patria Grande: Civilizations of the Americas

Well... That's good, I got them now... Thanks Zipa_DH!

Anyway, I finished Bolivar's Leader Screen... I think you'll like it:

Spoiler :

looks awesome.... finally someone made Bolivar's long coat, I don't know why always people made him with a short coat...hehehe

out of curiosity do you know that someone has done a Argentina and Venezuela civ already? They are on steam already.

Not at all, I can't really use steam so I don't tend to know what gets there hehe... They seem interesting however...

I'm almost done with Gran Colombia, having some issues with how the units look (its hard without the ability of custom modeling) and with how the UA will work...

Anyway, in the first post I also updated some ideas for Argentina, since I'm not from there I may have committed some mistakes when choosing either the leader, UA, UU, or UB, so opinions would be nice.

UA: The Independence of a Continent:[/B] Conquered cities don't need a Courthouse. Every time a city is liberated gain +50 culture.

Your UA for Gran Colombia is very similar to one I brainstormed a while back. I was going to do:

Cúcuta Congress: Free Courthouse in conquered Cities. +X Global Happiness for every Social Policy Tree completed.

Of course I was just thinking of potential abilities and never got around to making the civ, and then there were a whole bunch of other civs I wanted to do and I kind of dropped my plans to do Gran Colombia. Thankfully, your civs are high quality so now I can just use yours!

One thing, if "Conquered cities don't need a Courthouse" is essentially the free courthouse in conquered cities thing, don't use the <FreeBuildingOnConquest> trait XML tag. This doesn't work how you'd think it would. Instead of granting only a free building in conquered cities, what it does is grant a free building in EVERY city after you conquer your first city. So even cities that you've settled or received in a trade get it, which can potentially be a problem as there's a social Policy that grants +production (I think) to courthouses, and settled cities would normally never be able to have a courthouse. Instead, I'd recommend using the CityCaptureComplete lua event to place the courthouse in conquered cities.

Looking forward to the civ!

there's some ideas for a colombian UA:

Admirable campaign: infantry gets +1:c5strength: each 10 turns after war is declared

Patriotism: units gets +2:c5moves: and +1 :c5strength: in friendly territory

Military Tradition: cities gain +2 :c5culture: when they produce military units

and here some UU's:

Comunero, replaces Rifleman: Cover I, +25% combat bonus in rough terrain

Llanero, replaces Lancer: Drill II, +2 :c5moves: in plain terrains

Libertador, replaces Great General: provides a free social policy

AFEUR, replaces Infantry: Barrage II, +20% combat bonus in friendly territory

Lancero, replaces Infantry: Cover II, +30% combat bonus in jungle, forest and hill

I'm not sure if they're op or even possible hehehe

Zipa_DH, those are interesting, will see if I include any...

That's interesting, and good to know... And yes there's a social policy in the Autocracy tree that gives +3 happiness for each courthouse, and that would be a serious balance issue.

BTW, more Civ ideas in the first post, Chile, Peru and the Mapuche (similar to the Qullana, more of a mixture of ancient and modern)...

And, some shots just for teasing... Only some programming and icons to be done and Gran Colombia will be ingame hehe

It seems slightly strange to have a specific Peruvian civ given the existence of the Incas. Good job on the traits for all of them though.

Peru isn't Tahuantinsuyu, it's the same than ancient Rome and Italy

But there isn't an Italy in Civ5... (sorry, I'm sure you know a lot more about South American history than I do)

I was thinking about the Gran Colombia civ and it looks like the trait is a bit UP - when you start liberating cities, your culture output should be in the low hundreds per turn. 50 is too small.

I know Italy isn't in Civ V, but it's a very popular candidate. Sure many people will upset if Italy isn't in brave new world

agree

Sorry, been busy with real life a wee bit this week, but I'll try to have this done by Sunday.

Alright, almost there now... Had to change Bolivar's Trait, now its a bit inspired on the coming BNW:

The Independence of a Continent
Conquered cities don't need a Courthouse. Upon starting either Freedom, Order or Autocracy policy branches, non-specialist citizens yield +1 culture.

Also, Bolivar's got an Icon:

Odd, it should show the big version of Bolivar's Icon.. And I changed the trait again... Man is Lua rather evil sometimes...

Anyway, The Gran Colombia Civ is complete!... And this time the icons got nice quality too...

Download Here

I'll update the first post soon enough... And also, I just realised that "Post-Colonial American Civilizations" is a better thread title... Could it be changed somehow?

Can you give us the original Spanish word for "republiquette"? It doesn't sound right. I don't speak Spanish or anything, it's just that it might be better to follow Civ rules and use the native language.

Also, what's the religion icon in one of the Qullana screenshots in the OP?

It's Republiqueta... And you're right, will upload a version with Republiqueta instead of Republiquette now...

The icon must be one of the Religions from Tomatekh's historical religions mod (The Qullana are configured to use "Andeanism" and then Christianity, with that mod, but that time the Inca got that religion first, and England founded Christianity, so they ended up with a random one...)

The next civ will likely be The Mapuche... I only need to know what exactly could the Chemamull do...
