Dawn of Civilization - an RFC modmod by Leoreth

Have you thought about adding Varietas Delectat? Its one of my favorite CIV 4 Mods,and adds so much flavor to the game.

I second that idea! alternatively, do you know if that mod is compatible with your own? i.e. could we just install them together ourselves if it is not something you want to get into?

quick question: Do you have any plans on modding rfc Rand in this same fashion?

Could you make a 7zip version please?

EDIT: Zoroastrianism has the Confucian Pedia entry
EDIT2: Christian Pedias both say "...whom Christians believe to have been the 'son of God made flesh,'" this is in correct as the majority of Christians believe
wiki said:
Christians believe Jesus is the son of God, God having become man and the savior of humanity. Christians, therefore, commonly refer to Jesus as Christ or Messiah.
EDIT3: Adur Farnbag still has Confucian Pedia
EDIT4: Temple of Salomon is misspelled, the correct spelling is Solomon
EDIT5: Alhambra maybe a better extra Palace than Topkapi
EDIT6:
1600: gc.getMap().plot(13, 45).setBonusType(iCotton) #California is missing, so is
1700: gc.getMap().plot(89, 36).setBonusType(iCorn) #India, and
1850: gc.getMap().plot(11, 45).setBonusType(iFish) #California

Where did the spy with courthouse go? Was this your change or rhye's? Pretty much kills any early espionage possibilities.

When I downloaded it, it didn't appear the ocean tile changes were made.

Also could someone sum up the main differences between this mod and Corrosol's? I like this mod a lot, but there are a bunch of little things I like in Corrosol's as well. Namely using in some way the Numidian cavalry and Hwacha units, and also keeping an independent Inverness/some sort of Scottish city.

Okay I made the American UHV on emperor and there were no conferences. It never poped up. Is this only on emperor?

@keli : that might be a bug. I think conferences have been kept by Leoreth.

@dcode : if I remember well, Inverness had been replaced by Edinburgh in DoC. And if you want to compare this modmod with RFCC, well I'd say that RFCC is more focused on the ancient times (Hellenism replaces Judaism) while DoC is more focused on the modern era (protestantism replaces Judaism). There are also slight map differences as they have made changes of their own.
Anyway, you can compare the modmods by reading their descriptions in their first pages. One of the main difference is also that Leoreth changed the whole civic system, while corossol didn't. But all that you can find in the mod description in the first page. reading it is definitely not a waste of time, considering all the little changes made by both.

I'm glad someone else experienced this; I thought I was going crazy because other players have reported that they've had conferences, while I've played as both the English and Americans (on monarch with the newest version) and haven't had any. Maybe its a civ-specific problem. Has anyone played as the Americans or English and had conferences?

Thanks AdrienIer. After doing a bit of the reading, it appears Edinburgh was removed as a independent spawn the last patch.

For some reason I don't think the ocean tiled maps worked. Vikings could still not reach North America with galleys.

You're right, Edinburgh was replaced by another settler on spawn for the English.

About the Vikings, are you sure it's not because they couldn't find the way ? I haven't tried the new version of DoC, so I'm not sure, but I suppose the passage to Newfoundland will be in the far north near the ice of the north pole. Also, maybe they didn't tried to get to the Americas in your game : if the Vikings always get there first, you can't do the Spanish UHV anymore.

EDIT5: Alhambra maybe a better extra Palace than Topkapi
Agreed. Least because Topkapi is situated in the same city as the Turkish Palace.

I haven't seen a single AI use State Church. After I raised the :gp: modifier to +50% and gave it a few test runs, only Arabia and Portugal used it consistently, others tended to ignore it. It's as if the others already got their happiness from Monarchy. Currently the +25% isn't enough to sway any heads. I'm still not sure how it should play out, so I'm not going to propose anything yet.

Well, except Secularism. Could you make it allow Missionaries without Monasteries? Monasteries become obsolete, and Secularism is kind of dependant on them.

Hello, I download your mod a few days ago and I really enjoy it. I haven't really browsed through this thread but the Holy Roman Empire is sometimes interchanged with Germany during some notifications. I also noticed that when you first meet with other leaders they don't have any text in the box. Besides that everything looks ok. I don't know if the religions spreading to Civs where they didn't spread in real history is unchangeable but it happens sometimes :D. Also some Civs build Wonders that don't relate to their culture (etc. The Indians build the Statue of Zeus and the Vikings build a Taoist wonder).

I can answer a few of these questions.
Hello, I download your mod a few days ago and I really enjoy it. I haven't really browsed through this thread but the Holy Roman Empire is sometimes interchanged with Germany during some notifications.
The base for "Holy Roman Empire" is actually Germany. Like it should be, their civ's short name and the civilian adjective is referred to as German(y). Holy Rome is just their dynamic civ name during the Middle Ages.
I also noticed that when you first meet with other leaders they don't have any text in the box.
The missing leaderhead text is because adding new leaders is still an on-going project and the text just haven't been looked into. It's the same as in RFCEurope and RFCAsia. Nothing strange there.

Feel free to report if you come across something else that strikes you odd.

Oh I see, well thank you then. I'll be sure to post anything here that might hinder my gameplay, since nothing is really hindering my gameplay right now :D This mod is reallyyyyy good, and is it true that Rhye is going to retire from the modding? :(. Then I guess it's time for you guys to kick in.

Any news on my issue with Greece's UHV? I want to give another go at it but don't want to if there is a bug that needs to be fixed.

also new bug to report. On several consecutive games as Germany (3000 bc, normal, monarch), the English were at war with themselves. I could bribe Alfred to make peace with Alfred! I never made it over to England to check if their were two actual English civs or not.

Also I noticed Leoreth has been away for some time. Is it because he/she is working on an update to bring in the latest rfc changes? I noticed that some others (Cethegus, AdrienIer) have been answering questions. Are you guys part of this modding team? If so then I thank you all as well. I love this mod!

I noticed that England starts with an extra settler but without a defender (longbow) for the said settler. Is this intentional?

Leoreth - any estimate on when the updated version will be posted? I'm having a Dawn of Civ release party and I need to preorder the beer.;)

Hey all, I am currently playing a game with Germany, it's getting late in the game and my stability has taken a major hit after having to expand alot due to aggression from an alliance by Russia and Spain. I took the cities i needed for UHV in russia and got them to capitulate. The plan was to cripple spain and their vassal Portugal, sue for peace, liberate their cities and then switch civics to fix my stability. My first problem is after capitulation and before i could divest myself of all the spanish cities, Spain collapsed.:mad: I have the Olympic park built and a golden age ready to go but this is where my problem comes in.

Because of all the civic changes I don't know which civics to change to.:confused: All the stability articles and threads are no help because Leoreth has changed everything. Viceraloty is a no brainer because of all my vassals but what about the rest. I know from Ryhe's wiki that certain civics have synergy with each other as far as stability goes, and that the time frame even comes into play, but under Leoreth's new system I no longer know how any of this lines up.

Any help?

P.S. this game with Germany has kicked major ass, lot of it has to due with the changes from this mod so thanks again!

As found in the Stability.py file.

I'll take a closer look at your save and update my post in a few.

EDIT: What the... you're running Monarchy/Vassalage/Tribalism/Serfdom/Pantheon/Subjugation in the Industrial era? Seriously?
Lots of these civics simply go old. If you've kept Vassalage and Pantheon since the beginning, they'll have around 1-2 whole eras' worth of accumulated destability. Any government civic besides Republic destabilizes once you research Constitution, and any Society civic besides Capitalism and Socialism since the discovery of Liberalism. You also don't take advantage of any civic combinations (except Monarchy+Vassalage), as included in the first spoiler tag.

I'm surprised you made it this far without using the new civics. :( I guess that deserves some praise, in its own way. Change your civics to more suitable ones now.
(If you're simply going for stability, use Republic+Parliamentarism+Secularism and either Capitalism+Free Market or Socialism+State Property. That'll include 3 civic combinations, and gets rid of some of your destabilizing outdates.)

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm always afraid of changing civics due to anarchy/stability issues, especially since I don't really have a firm grasp of how it all works. I have only been playing rfc for about a month or so and I switched to this mod almost immediately. Also, this is the first time I have played a non classical/ancient civ in rfc, so the nuances of late game rfc are unknown to me. Since all the guides are for regular rfc its hard getting help. I tried to go back and play rfc to get the hang of the stability etc but once you play a few games with this mod its hard to go back.

Anywho thanks again. I am going to work my way through what you gave me there and maybe do a bit of a write up on it for others in the future.

Ok, new question, where do i go to find out how to read this stuff?

Also, this thread is getting very large due to the popularity of the mod. Have you guys thought about breaking it up into a couple threads ie, development, strategy, suggestions? At this point you almost need your own subforum, especially now that Ryhe is not modding anymore, the future of rfc-type mod development is going to be this modmod. Then I wouldn't feel guilty asking strategy questions in this thread :)
