The Ai really turned into a complaining bunch

The turn right after we declare each other friends, they come begging me for something, free gold, free resource, etc. Wow are they beggers now! Why can't they propose trades where they give up some resources for that gold they want? Why does it always have to be blatant begging?

Yup, AIs is a bunch of beggars.

But if you ask them for something, OH NO YOU WILL GET REJECTED.

If I get rejected, I denounce them for lying about being my friend.
Only fair play.

I always try to trade away all my extra luxury resources - this prevents the AI for coming and asking for it.

There is no negative modifier if you decline their begging. But there is a strong positive one if you accept!

Just take it as a welcome possibility to enhance the AI's love towards you. If you don't feel like it for any reasons, contact them and sell the demanded luxury to them.

I haven't played pre-BNW Civ 5 in over a year, so I was wondering if it's a recent change that the AI is a vicious, backstabbing liar. In just about every game I've played so far, I always had at least one AI declare war on me and tell me how tired he was of pretending to be friendly. In my current game Shaka has done it 3 times now.
