Turn Discussion Thread

Id like to see an E S-E look from the scout on top of the plains hill. Are we going to use the warrior we get in 10 for any close exploration? If so I think that the scout should take a longer route around the peaks and have the warrior map the inside before returning to garrison/escort duties
The Warrior will certainly explore, although probably not in that direction. Nice to get the land close to our capital unfogged as soon as possible though, so I'm voting for moving the Scout SW. We want to start getting some future city sites planned out - our first Settler isn't too far off.

SW seems ok. I also would like to see some potential city sites before going further with the scout.

Scout moved SW. SW next turn seems good too.

(Will add pic later, in a rush.)

Don't want to wait? Yeah, me neither. :p Screenie:

Wah, nothing interesting. Can't wait to try feeding all these hills with that floodplain, that'll be fun. Continuing SW makes sense, at least the pass is open.

Also we seem to have risen to an early lead in score! We can use this. :run:

SW is ok. Lets cross Mordor pass:p (they forgot to build black gate yet :) )

Thanks Joshua for taking care of the screenshot. :)

Heh... if only it was due to some actual advantage, instead of just being the first to research a cheap technology. :p (By the way, this does actually tell us something... evidently none of the other teams went for Fishing first. ;) )

Or Hunting for that matter (I believe they cost the same amount of beakers).
Yes, that's right. Forgot about Hunting, I guess because we started with it ourselves. :)

Scout moves SW, guess what we find? Yep, more of the same. :p

I guess the most obvious next move for the Scout is W-SW.

W-SW. Levees are good enough at least in this continent. No lakes so far and not too much shoreline.

W-SW.

You know, there's a lot of green directly west of our capital. I'm sure all our lucious lands and resources are hiding right over there.

Also looking at the score it appears we are the first team to have our capital hit size 2, not a big surprise.

Depending on the shore line shape and surrounding land conditions, those mountains could be an interesting buffer between us and enemies. No forests, but a forted hill behind a river is good, and CG promotions work in them.

I understand the forted hill? bit, remind me what's the CG promotions ? cottages? combat?

The Mad Scientists probably grew to size 2 as well (1 --> 2 results in a 5 point increase). But it's really kind of unnecessary information, though. What's more important is our increased exploration.

Oh it's very unnessecary, there just isn't much else to talk about at the moment. :p

looks like a lot of river iam realy afraid of dutch :)
Actually, more rivers will make the Dutch team's UB less of a problem. If there were hardly any rivers, that would make the Dutch UB much more powerful (because hardly anyone could build Levees, and yet they could build Dikes in every coastal city). With lots of rivers though, the Dutch bonus won't be as great relative to our own. ;)

Yes, they did... last turn as well (since we're second in the turn order). So they were actually the first team to reach size 2. (There are only two teams with size 2 cities - you can see them all in the "Top 5 Cities" screen.)

So that tells us that Team 5 didn't build a Worker first either... and since they didn't research Fishing, they will probably be building a Warrior. It also says that they may also have flood plains around. (Or else Corn/Pigs/Cows etc.)

CG = City Garrison promotions for units. ;)
