Do you like games like games like Oblivion, the Total war series, Elite and Pirates (for the older of you)? Do you like middle age settings?

Yes? Well here is something for you!!

Mount & Blade: Warband is an epic game.
Sadly it's largely unknown, this is mainly because of 2 reasons: It was developed by an Indie Game Studio ( with only 2 people!!) and it hasn't "up-to-date-graphics".
Sadly graphics seem to be the only thing that counts today, but noones seems to care about gameplay.

Well M&B:W has one of the best and unique gameplays ever, it maybe even defines an own new genre!

It's basically an Open-World-RPG, set in a medieval world (the land of "Calradia", where there is no need for trolls and dragons.

You create a character (like in oblivion, complete customizing of face, hair, etc), and start to play in an open-world map.
you start in the overview map and can travel between towns and castles and whatever.

You can take on jobs, earn money, trade goods, roam the lands, and fight (one of the ways to earn money).

This game has unlied one of the best combat systems UP TO DATE, where you control your character 3rd or 1st person style, swing your sword, axe, speer, or whatever or shoot your arrows or ridem your horse and fight from it's back ( horse riding & combat is truly better then in oblivion or any other similar game).

You can even hire soldiers and mercenaries and form your own private army ( i've seen people have like 600 men in their ranks), commanding them in huge battles, where you are in the middle of it!!!

ok, nuff said, check out this videos, or read something about it, and GIVE IT A TRY !!!!!

note: Mount & Blade: Warband is a standalone expansion to it's predecessor Mount & Blade, and features EPIC multiplayer battles !!!!

It also got a little updated graphics (hdr and stuff added), but this really doesn't count if you know what a good game is that will jail you to your PC for a loooooong time....

I've still only got the original! I should really get Warband... maybe for Christmas? :please:

I love this game. It's the only game where melee combat feels so satisfying and takes skill but isn't a puzzle game. The mod, Blood and Steel, is the best SP mod.

fffufuuuufuuffufffuuuuuuuuuuu

Could you (or anyone) send me a PM next time it's on sale for a great price like that?

It was 7.50$ the other day on Steam.
And GamersGate and Impulse quite often too.

Similar and even more satisfying at times combat is in Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

Sure

Similar and even more satisfying at times combat is in Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

It even has early guns for people who want to make a mod going up a little into the Renaissance. Actually, I think the game works pretty well engine-wise in regards to guns up until automatics.

you should hang out at CFC steam group with all the cool kids

It's only $30 at Bestbuy. Even cheaper at Newegg, lol.

I still don't grasp what SP features make Warband a must buy. Just fired up my original M&B for some campaining in Calradia.

I read that people have 300 man army but after playing for ages still have only 120 max on my warband.

Is there some way to conqueror your own kingdom ? Which i presume is what is needed to unlock the end game to enable you to be a king and max the cap on your army ?

You need your own castle or town before you can delcare yourself a king (though you'll want to have a good and large army for that). You take them by winning a siege/assault and having your King gift it to you (unless you don't have a king then it goes to you).

Sounds like the X series, but medieval edition.

Its nothing like the X series.

I figured it out, must have negative score with a faction before you can seige and then take property. Then having declared myself king unfortunity max pop of my army is the same.
(well I just leveled to 35 so max army is now 124)

Increase your leadership stats. Every few points will give you an increase in maximum numbers. Renown also increased the number slightly.

Been playing since 0.8something - welcome on board! :D

That said, what does "unlied" mean? Don't think it is a word...and if it is a spelling mistake, I can´t figure out what you meant to say. Not to be a grammar Nazi, it just bugs me now. :)

Now off to find a cool mod and start a new Warband campaign!
