Europa Europa: European Empires Mod

Can I ask why you deleted the Jewish Religion? There were millions of Jews living in Poland and Russia...

You should add the great Byzantine empire or delete the Teutonic Empire- both were very strong and existed in the same period.

Like Crash said about the religion.

The Teutons are gone in version 2.5.

New game; Poland Prince level.

Normal game up until 1220AD. I was running 4th, up from the 8th I was before I researched Theology and traded it to the other civs for 5 other techs and about 500 gold about 10 turns prior. I finally expanded at a good pace and was still at 90% research when ....

The treacherous Austrians declared war and immediately besieged Belgrade. Luckily I had built walls and had 2 swordsmen, an axeman, and an archer there. I was prepared for an Ottoman attack, but not this. Especially since they are dead last in score. I must be the least powerful civ so here they came. With no spearmen to counter their horse archers I was forced to let them pillage the countryside, bombard my defenses, and finally try smashing in the hard way. Too bad for them I had a counterattack lined up....

The next turn I completed Civil Service (I think that's the name) and had Macemen at my disposal. With 1200+ gold in the treasury I upgraded several swordsmen and prepared to take Graz (which was situated between Krakow and Belgrade).

The long and the short is that I took Graz, held Belgrade, and was turning the tide completely when Bismarck declared war in 1320AD. Bugger. Again, Luck and good timing were on my side because I had just completed Paper, which I preceded to trade to Napolean for help against the vile Germans! Hah.

I quickly asked for and received peace from Metternich to free up my macemen and catapults for German cities. I gained a nice city with 2 horses and 2 corn, not too shabby. Now to march against Germany.....

hi and thx
aaahm ... only a little queation i got, no oil ?? within the northafrican part??
i meann .............
Bye hulk

I would ask the author (or somebody else) to upload here FLAGDECAL files in jpg format so that we could alter them since there are some of us who can not see FLAGDECAL files with black alpha channel and DDS converter 2.1 is not supporting those files inside mode (?) so I cannot alter them manualy to white alpha channel...

As I see from the preview the mod is great :) and I would like to try it, but since I see only white flags I'll just wait the moment when I get apropriate FLAGDECAL files. :)

Thanx in advance!

When I load the mod it comes up with an error message "invalid mod directory, ignoring" but then it loads up anyway. When screen pops up I am ready to pick my civ but I can only choose from 4 civs, Germany, France, Russia, and England I believe. Anyone have any answers? Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem, any help would be....helpful. Go Teutonic Order! This MOD sounds really cool!

Did you put the Europa Europa folder in MyGames/Civ4/.../Mods (the CustomAssets folder) or the regular game folder? It should be in the regular game /Mods/folder (next to the Greek World mod, Desert War, etc). The WBS scenario file should be in the /PublicMaps/ folder of the regular game folder (not my games). Good luck.

Open Europa Europa.WBS with Notepad and check that your folders are in the right mod path.... i.e. ModPath=Mods\Europa Europa. Everything else in an invalid mod directory.

As I said earlier, I will convert them to white alpha mode this weekend.

Also how hard would it be to change some of the flags back to the originals? If someone tells me how I'll do it myself. I see the flags as a poor choice as they only really fit for napoleonic era, a small portion of the time frame.

But aside from the flag issue I marched on and played anyways and found this mod to be the most balanced, well thought out and complete mod ever made in the modding community. Excellent work!

One suggestion however, consider replacing the graphics for the cavalry unit with the cossack as it is more fitting of a european cavalry. Or at least tell me how to do this myself as I hate the way the regular cavalry looks, what a stupid choice of firaxis!

Hey, that menacing war sounds exciting!

In my game, I am planning a big medieval war against Bismarck...
In about 1300 I will atack: knights, catapults and... yes, muskets will be
on my side, while the Germans will hopefully not have even knights...

I hope my action will not pull in anybody against me...

I'm not too long away from rejoining my war if the damned day would go faster. I'm starting to crank out knights so that will help as my macemen are taking a beating against fortified longbowmen. I actually captured a German city only to lose it the next turn since my men were all 3/4 dead. :) It's a race now since Germany has pikemen and their own macemen churning out.

I'll be doomed if Peter or Suleiman come a knockin'....

1555AD - More war

The cowardly French made peace with Bismarck around 1440 or so, leaving me too vulnerable to continue the war. I followed suit with peace as both sides were simply littering the ground with attackers.

Several turns of peace ensued where I cranked out numerous pikemen, knights, and crossbowmen. A good thing too as Suleiman attacked Belgrade in 1520. I raced 8 knights south and hoped the moderately defended city would hold 2 turns. It did and my knights crushed Suleiman's crossbowmen, macemen, and catapults. What few knights he had were unhorsed by my pikemen. Now I use my battle hardened troops for offense....

...and you do it on Prince...

My Noble game is a feast:

in about 1230 I attacked Germany and my superior knights and muskets
conquered ALL Germany to the north (6 cities) in a 100 years war...
Having militaristics civics helped a lot, also the alliance of Bonaparte,
who - being a bastard :) - could be easily asked for a little gymnastics...
He took one German city in the west.

Now I switched back to peace and develop my newly gained territory.
Germany stayed alive with three cities sonwhere (north, Scandinavia?), but who cares?

Austria is now not only strong but big - and great, too! :)

How's your economy with so many cities?

I may be playing Prince, but I'm losing and steadily losing ground. I'm in 6th place, but in 9th according to tech. I'm at 90% and still lagging. I need to find a difficulty level between Prince and Noble....

Well, I switched back to peaceful civics at the end of the 100 years war,
and plus I have city specialists that give money...
Now I have a -10/turn gold rate and 700 in cash,
groceries and banks are building now...

Yes, I myself also think Prince might be difficult and a new level between the two is needed. But then I will try Prince a few times, perhaps yet I can manage it...

I know that this issue has been discussed in other mod threads, but when I loaded up my first game of this great mod last night I noticed that ALL flags are white.

While I am enjoying my first foray into this mod (love the minor civs) the white flags are really annoying. I know that sometmes modded flags work on my machine (Like in the great new civ work of CivArmy)

Anyone have any ideas? (I also happen to be a XML and Python beginner)

AG is working on it. He said maybe this weekend there'd be a fix.

I've been tinkering with the values in the handicapInfo.xml file, but I can't put my hand on what the major problem is.

Here are the parameters I think are important (since starting location, animals, ect are not important in this scenario.)

Noble is regular font, Prince is bold

<iFreeUnits>8/6</iFreeUnits>
<iUnitCostPercent>50/60</iUnitCostPercent>
<iResearchPercent>100/110</iResearchPercent>
<iDistanceMaintenancePercent>75/85</iDistanceMaintenancePercent>
<iNumCitiesMaintenancePercent>70/80</iNumCitiesMaintenancePercent>
<iMaxNumCitiesMaintenance>5/6</iMaxNumCitiesMaintenance>
<iCivicUpkeepPercent>80/90</iCivicUpkeepPercent>
<iInflationPercent>90/95</iInflationPercent>
<iHealthBonus>3/2</iHealthBonus>
<iHappyBonus>5/4</iHappyBonus>
<iNoTechTradeModifier>70/60</iNoTechTradeModifier>

The free units will eventually catch your economy.
The unit cost isn't that big of a deal IMO.
Research % is troubling to me.
All of the city penalties kill me!
Civics and inflation are minor, maybe.
The health bonus isn't too big of a deal with all of the resources, but happiness is HUGE!
No trade tech starts becoming annoying when you get way behind.

I think I'm going to tinker again will these and try to find the balance between getting slaughtered and winning too easily. At least for this mod.

Sorry to hijack your thread AG... :mischief:

AG - Can you add something for a Great Theoligian to do after you've built a shrine? Right now I have 3 of them in my capital, but nothing to combine them with to do a GA. Maybe an Academy or something?

Great job, Im sure it took lots of hard work. I have one question, for the great people, how come we cannot add them to the city as a great person as in the regular game and get the benefits of +shields and coins, etc.?
