Mongolia: This theme is less of a theme and is much more a tale. A tale that begins around a campfire of the impending doom and destruction that is the Mongolian forces consisting of horsemen and Keshiks. While it conveys the dread, it also paints the picture of the Mongolian horde's difficulty in living at the steppes, their leader having promised them riches beyond any imagination.

Pressured into fulfilling these vast promises, the great Lhan sets out towards the promised land to invade it. As th emusic kicks up, the forces enter their formations and pull their bows. The arrows fired strikes the unsuspecting enemies and they quickly pull away in their traditional hit-and-run tactic. Panic rises within the enemy forces, scattering their formations and making them easy pickings for the Mongolians.

The civilians in the cities/empire can do naught but watch their armies slowly but surely fall to the superior Mongolian forces, and brace themselves for the inevitable plunder of their homes. And once the plunder is done, the Mongolians set the city on fire and they ride on to search for new target to plunder riches from.

Once they think the Mongolian forces has disspiated, they come back in larger numbers. THe civilization's armies can't handle them. They are overwhelmed.

As the music dies down, so does the vitality of the ever aging Genghis Khan. His empire created, his riches accumulated, his life is cut short when he falls off his horse. A new Khan rises, but his goal is to nurture the empire his predecessor had created, and the golden horde rides off.

Maya: It has a menacing start, with the uneasy, scary musical cues, but it dies down and becomes boring. It's somewhat short too.

That makes it two civilizations' war themes that has had more than 20 points I've plussed. Next time I shall upvote a war theme that has below 20 points. And it WILL be with good reason.

I don't think I voted Mongolia yet. While it doesn't evoke the violent horde I imagine with the Mongols, it does evoke the vast, inhospitable steppes of Mongolia. It's subtler, and it has grown well on me.

Meanwhile, Siam's is still one that doesn't work well for War.

Brazil's war theme is my favorite theme in Civ V, everything combined. So awesome.

Most of the war themes are decent (better on average than the peace themes), but there are three that stand out as outright bad to me : Morocco, India and China. On is already out and the other is very close, so let's get to work on the third !

Voting for Indonesia for having an impressive and threatening theme.

Downvoting Japan because I'm not too fond of it, hard to notice during gameplay. And also because I don't want to pick on the same two themes so much :p

Austria: What Maria Theresa thinks, based on the song. "Oh...There's a war. Too bad. Where is my tea?"

Inca: What Pachacuti thinks, based on the song. "For our conveniences, I have progressed multiple eras ahead of you to make your passing faster and to reduce the lives lost...on my side."

Not entirely off topic, and please forgive the short break in this thread, but I felt compelled to post this. I have skipped over this thread and its' counterpart, simply because I really had no idea what you all were talking about. WTF is a war theme? My game doesn't play a war theme?

I figured it was either because I play on a Mac or because my version of the game didn't have that included , but that makes no sense because I recently purchased the whole BNW game in its' entirety. So, I simply skipped over this thread.

Until today……when I realized I had the music options turned to 0% (I had done this while playing on a flight), and probably have had that setting since day 1. Yeah, pretty darn stupid. When one does something that dumb, I think it is appropriate to ridicule oneself, and I am choosing to do so publicly, right freakin here.

Please keep the tomato throwing to a minimum. I'm now going to slink back to my game and enjoy the music (for the first time).

Assyria's war theme has a dynamite opening, and just conveys that sense of menace throughout. WHen you hear those first few notes in the classical era, you know you're in trouble, because siege towers are coming to get you.

China's theme is just awful, palin and simple. It's chaotic, but not in a cool way like the Maya theme, and it never really finds a tune. Just irritating.

Shoshone's war theme is fantastic. Quite impressive that it fits just about any era, too.

I agree with Teproc's opinion on the Chinese theme... Except I feel that Siam's is even more guilty of those flaws

Brazil war theme song has an awesome beat to it with intense moments, I love it! :D
