Howdy. I started up my copy of Civ V during a free few minutes at work and noticed that I could only run it in DirectX9. I didn't know why until I saw on another thread that DirectX 11 is only available with Windows 7.

I am on a MacBook Pro with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics card with 512 MB, running Windows XP through BootCamp.

My question is - is anyone on a similar machine running Windows 7 and getting good performance with DirectX 11? I don't want to upgrade to Windows 7 but if the graphics are significantly better, I might invest in it. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

your GPU doesn't support DX 11

you cannot run dx11 without the newest generation video cards... and even then dx11 performance on most games that do offer it is horrible. just stay with dx9.

Go with Direct X 9. It is a simple as that!

Fair enough. I'm annoyed that the default setting of the diplomacy screen is a screenshot instead of the animated leaders, but so far that's the only thing that I've noticed is lacking graphics-wise.
