If someone can translate interesting things from it, please do so!

EDIT: video is not complete. I think he's posting the continuation later on.

He says it's a new version, limited to 250 turns and completely in German! :)
I'm watching now, I'll give you a summary later!

Cool! Thanks bro!

Althought I think that's just part 1. o__O I wonder where they are gonna put the rest of the playlist down.

Seeded start options haven't changed.

7 mapscripts in this version:
- Earthlike
- Pangea
- Small islands
- Medium + small islands
- Equatorial (fast rotating world, short day/night cycle, no details about terrain in tooltip)
- Icy (very cold, best terrain around rivers and coastlines)
- Multiplayer skirmish (various options of scripts available, looks like perfectly symmetrical landmasses in the icon)

In their experience lush/arid/fungal has no gameplay effect, the tiles just look different. But there are still options for world age, temperature and rain, so no worries ;) It seems like you can play a planet that looks arid but has loads of "wet", fertile tiles in gameplay terms.

EDIT: The "add player" button is not grayed out in custom game settings when 8 player slots are already set. Also, standard sized maps already have an default of 8 players. Makes one wonder if one can play with more than 8 factions? How?

Interesting. Could this mean there can be two players from one Sponsor nation in a single game?

Loading times appear faster to them compared to civ5. Desert seems to provide energy, as do rivers.

In general, not much new info if you know Ariochs site.

Public service announcement: they get through almost half the first turn in the 28 minute video.

Yeah, but it's only bad if you know much about the game already. They explain menus and tooltips in great detail, so there's hope that they dig out a few new infos.

I'm more concerned about their sense of "humor" ;)

I don't speak German. Why didn't he settle on the river? He could later build another city 4 to the left on the coast/forest to pick up those resources.

While Civ V (and III, II, I, SMAC) all had big river bonuses, for Civ IV it was minor (unless playing the Dutch) so maybe the river bonus is minor in BE (or perhaps non existent if the river is toxic.)

they wouldn't be germans if that would not be a major issue. Seriously, germans are just not able to do humor (unless its political humor, which is just sarcasm mainly).

They just made a bad decision. No gameplay reason, they talked about settling riverside too.

I'm just listening to the interview with lead producer Lena Brink from the same guys (in German). 3 cool bits of info so far:

  • You can have units from several affinities!!! The example was this: If you have Purity 1, you can upgrade to purity-style soldiers. If you then gain 2 levels of supremacy, you'll be able to upgrade your ranged soldiers, but this time in supremacy style! She considers this an "advanced tactic for expert players". She doesn't believe it will become common practice, though.
  • Explorers can restock their "digging module" when brought back to a city.
  • They tried an option where the whole map was revealed initially, but it destroyed the experience.

A very nice and good introduction video on the set up screens/options.
I wonder if there is a random option to choose the colonist + spaceship + cargo + planet type.

It looks like natural border expansion prioritize not yet bordered resources too. (expands toward plain tile which is adjacent to titanium, rather than random grassland/plains tiles.)

I think everyone's getting Purity 1 Explorers, expert or not.
