I would like to see a Rome Total War mod for CIV. The game comes with a whole map layout so it would be easy to just create it for civ. It also shows what you can build for cities and what resources you have around each individual city.

I believe it would work pretty cool. It'll still play like civ but it would be more Roman :)

What do you guys think? When i get more time after i finish college i'll totaly work on it.

The main different thing between RTW and Civ, is the battles.
How are you going to manage this one ?

I think he meant the parts he mentioned..not the battles..

Basicly, this is what I got out of it: Just Rome and no past or present and a few tweaks, plus I assume some more Rome history centered "Nations"

I just started another game of RTW in anticipation of the XPack coming out later this month.

Two things I'd take from RTW to add into Civ:

Tileless World - I'd like a map where the units had a more free-form movement. I enjoyed the tactics of the campaign in RTW. However, I would not want to see the world divided into provinces as it is in the Total War series.
Army Groups - Even without incorporating realtime combat, it would be nice to create integrated, whole "armies" from individual units rather than stacks. Civ III's method for armies was flawed, as well.

This one, I strongly agree.

Though I REALLY wouldn't mind if Civ and Total War fused into a same game, with the scope and theme of the former, and the battles of the latter.

shoudl be damn easy, I suspect- woudl the unit models (and animations?) from RTW be importable to civ4?

:hmm:

I don't see how importing the models would import the battles...

it wont; I dotn actually care abou tthe battles; I liek the nice looking units.

You, sir, are a genius.

Here is the tech tree i got from Rome Total War... I posted this so to arouse your imaginations and give ideas on how we can make a strictly Roman period driven mod. All civs can be playable with special units but we would need to come up with what the different civs can construct.

I was thinking to have the whole map layout from RTW into Civ4. We can have the same cities and what not. We cannot build new cities only conquer other cities and improve these conquered cities. Certain cities will have the ancient wonders of the world to give you bonuses. Other cities will have resources so you can claim. ( not sure how new civ4 will work exactly so I cant say for sure untill i play it a few times )

It would be interesting to have the Roman powers conquering other lands and then back stab on each other to become the ultimate ruler!

Barbarian uprising will also give a small challenge.
