The Fourth Age: Total War – RTW Version
(Requires RTW 1.5)

Information about this version:

This is the RTW version of the Fourth Age: Total War - The New Shadow mod, for those that do not have Barbarian Invasion. It requires the 1.5 version of RTW, so make sure you have patched your game to it before you try installing it.

The RTW version has been patched up to its very latest version (2.6) and includes everything that the one for BI does, except any non-portable capabilities, such as shield-wall or hording, that cannot be supported by the RTW.exe. The original folder structure of the mod has been kept the same, for coding purposes, so a bi/ci directory will be created in your RTW installation and the mod's files will be put there. The size of the file is so big, because all BI files necessary for the mod to run have been included in it.

The game has not been fully tested on this RTW version, as this release serves as a teaser for players in order to get BI and try the fully supported version of FATW for it, which is constantly under improvement and expansion, so there is no guarantee for the stability of the mod. Nonetheless, this release is believed to be highly stable, something FATW has always been praised for, and up to the same high quality standards that the 220,000+ players of the BI version enjoy.

Note that this version will NOT be developed further with patches or new releases (including the Wars of Men package) in the foreseeable future and it will not be supported by our Team for any technical issues that are exclusive to the platform. Please, get BI and the BI version of FATW to enjoy the mod to its fullest.

Constructive criticism and feedback are always welcome – without it this mod would not be the same. You can visit us at www.thefourthage.org, or at our forums.

YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!! dl'ing now!

crap, it didn't work...(maybe cuz I have gold edition?) but it looks AWESOME

Gold edition should be no problem, but you need to make sure that it is patched to v1.6. You can do that by going in-game, clicking on Options, and checking the top right corner. I may be able to help you if you give me more details - was there an error message, for example?

oh..........thanks man, YOU SAVED MY LIFE, well, metaphorically speaking....

This is an unofficial Force Diplomacy mini-mod for 'The Fourth Age: Total War - The New Shadow' v2.6, made by Lysander13, and in no way supported by the FATW team.

Download here: Mod Realms

The following from the readme.txt in the download:

------------------------
Notes on Force Diplomacy
------------------------

Force Diplomacy as it implies, allows the player to force any AI faction to accept any diplomatic proposal made to them. Presuming of course it has the means to carry out what is being forced on them. As an example of when the AI will turn down a diplomatic offer even though the player is attempting to force it via the script; Would be when the player is asking for money the AI currently does not have in it's coffers. The AI could not very well agree to something it simply cannot supply. Which should seem obvious enough to anyone. Used in a sensible way with "house rules" of a sort....this mini-mod can help with certain AI deficiencies, ie....not accepting diplomatic proposals that are clearly to it's benefit, maintaining alliances, not knowing when it should sue for peace or except cease fires, etc.... Clearly there is a benefit for those who like to play long campaigns and roleplay them a bit.

---------------------
Activating the script
---------------------

Force Diplomacy runs via a show_me script. The player can access this by clicking on the help button on the diplomacy scroll (question mark on the top right hand corner).
Then clicking on the "show me how button" when the advisor pops up to activate the script.
Once the the "show me how" button has been clicked and the script activated. Player now makes diplomatic proposal that the AI will not refuse presuming it has the means to fulfill.

Installation Instructions * = Denotes comment at end.
-------------------------

1) Download and unpack file in place of your choosing.
There will be 2 folders labeled *Archive and Force Diplomacy.
2) Go into Force Diplomacy Folder.
3) Run Installer located in this folder. Point installer towards root directory of your FATW installation.
For example FATW is the name of my installation...So my root directory looks like this...
F:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\FATW.......yours may look something like this.....
C:\Program Files\ Activision or The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War BI
4) Finish running installer.
* = Archive folder contains an installer with original FATW files that the user can use to revert any changes
made by this unofficial mod. Just run the installer in the same fashion as above to revert back to your
original FATW installation.

Final Note: This unofficial mini-mod is for the most current version of FATW ( BI Only )

  • Credit for the Force Diplomacy script in it's entirety belongs to DimeBagHo of XGM. My only role was the relatively simple matter of implementing it within the FATW file structure.
  • The FATW team for their hard work, a faboulous modification and for leave to share this file with fellow FATW fans who may be interested in it's use.
