Introduction

Hinge of Fate (HOF) is the title for my global WW2 scenario for C3C. The name
comesfrom the title of one of the five volumes of Winston Churchill's war
memoirs. That volume dealt with the events of the years 1942-43, including
the decisive battles of Midway, El Alemain and Stalingrad.

It uses El Menecy's 362 by 325 world map with the bottom 10 rows cropped off.

Turns represent 2 weeks in real time. The short game is 40 turns long,
which covers the period from Dec., 7, 1941 until April, 1943. The long game
is 100 turns and covers the entire conflict period. The civilizations are:

1. Japan
2. Russia
3. Germany
4. China
5. Minor Allies
6. Commonwealth
7. Minor Axis
8. USA

The Minor Allies, led by De Gaulle of the Free French include Free French
territories, Brazil and the Dutch East Indies. I took a few liberties with
history here, Brazil did not actually declare war until August, 1942.
The Minor Axis, led by Mussolini of the Italians includes Vichy French
territories, Finland, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.

The political situation:

Locked alliance #1 (USA, China, Commonwealth and Minor Allies) at war with
alliance 2 and 4.
Locked alliance #2 (Germany and Minor Axis) at war with alliance 1 and 3.
Locked alliance #3 (Russia) at war with alliance 2.
Locked alliance #4 (Japan) at war with alliance 1.

A number of changes were required to assist the AI against the human
player and to overcome some other problems caused by AI behavior:

Armies - There are no armies at the start and you cannot build them.
The only way to get armies in a single player game is to get a military great
leader through combat.

Japanese Invasions - Since the AI is terrible at planning and conducting
amphibious invasions, the allied and the european axis games start with the
Japanese troops already ashore in the Phillipines, Borneo and other locations.
Also, the battleships Arizona, Oklahoma, Repluse and the Prince of Wales are
removed, they have already been sunk at the start.

The AI will not trade cites with allies, so the USA gets the city of Plymouth
in the southwest corner of England. This city can be used as an airbase and
a staging port for invasion of Western Europe.

The Minor Allies will sometimes park a destroyer in the strait at the southern
end of the Red Sea, blocking Commonwealth ships from entering and leaving
the sea. To fix this problem I gave the Commowealth the port of Aden at the
entrance to Red Sea. The Commonwealth can get around any allied ships by
going through the port.

NOTE: Files have been updated to V1.10, see post #119 for release notes.

Use these files for playing one of the allied nations.

The Allies cannot move on turn 1.

The victory point limit is 150,000 for the short game and 450,000 for
the long game. In the long game the Axis powers start with more submarines
and more cash. Also, because the only naval units the AI wants to build are
battleships, in version 1.09 long game I added a new destroyer producing
wonder called the Yokosuka Navy Yard in Tokyo.

Copy the downloaded file to your conquests\scenarios folder and unzip.

In this scenario the USA has the Liberty Ship Production wonder built in Los Angeles at start.

The victory point limit is 150,000 for the short game and 450,000 for
the long game. In the long game the Allies have extra VP locations in
Alaska, the US west coast, Burma, India, New Zealand and around
the Indian Ocean and extra starting cash.

Germany or the Minor Axis cannot move on turn 1.

The victory point limit is 150,000 for the short game and 450,000 for
the long game. In the long game the Allies have extra VP locations in
Iceland, Russia, and around the North Atlantic. Also the USA has a
modified version of the Liberty Ship Production wonder built in Boston.
It will build one invasion fleet every seven turns.

Thanks for that, I think it is fixed now, at least it works for me.
Give it another try and let me know what happens.

PS. It seems to be intermitant, possibly a server problem, I would
wait a few hours maybe they will fix it, if not I'll ask Thunderfall.

Downloading it now, so it works :)

Will play it this weekend and get back to you with my thoughts.
