Civ2 on Windows XP

I have a copy of Civ2 I'm trying to get to run on Windows XP. The autorun program works fine up until the point where it tries to copy a file called cv.dll. I tried to copy the files from the disc without the autorun, but it still was unable to copy cv.dll. It said it was because of an I/O error. How can I fix this?

I have Civ2 Classic, so this may be the root of my issues...
