Stonehenge is supposed to give 8 culture points per turn. It is giving me 16 per turn and I can't figure out why. I am playing as Napoleon at Prince level at normal game speed. I have checked everything and can't see why the game is doubling Stonehenge's per turn value.

Also, I am producing 10 commerce per turn but my production for new technolgy is going up 13 per turn. Again, I can't figure out why this is happening....

I must be missing something simple!!!

I don't know, but it might be the same as Civ3 where culture from a building/wonder went up over time.

For your second question, I presume all 10 commerce is going into 100% Science. In that case it is being modified by 25% due to a library (or something else), hence you get 13 science when it is rounded up.

Once a building is 1000 years old its culture value doubles. As for your research "problem", maybe you have built a library or have a scientist specialist?

I still can't figure why the Stonehenge cultural value is doubled.....I guess I am missing something obvious.

As to the commerce per turn it must be based on the difficulty level. I tweaked my city to produce 12 commerce and I actually got 19. Then I tweaked it to 16 commerce and I actually got 26. I am playing at difficulty level "Prince." I checked the manual again and could not find anything specific except that it says the difficulty level effects research costs. There must be some hidden multiplier in there.

I don't have any buildings, civics etc that should effect research rate or to explain the Stonehenge issue.......

As somebody else mentioned, it probably doubles it's cultural output after it's been around for 1000 years (ala civ3).

What civics are you running? One of them doubles culture in all cities (think it's "freedom of speech")

I always thought that was very cool having buildings increase their culture the longer they were around. Unfortunately they took out tourist attractions for Civ 4 I believe. Obsolete Wonders producing some extra cash was a nice touch. ;)

I've been getting 16 culture since Stonehenge was built....2200 BC.

I don't have any Civics that effect production or culture.

If you "mouse over" your research total in the top left of the city screen it should give you a popup that will explain where your research is coming from.

I have Napoleon, so that isn't it!!!!

OK, here is a screen shot showing my resarch at 16, but it is giving me 25 per turn. It must be the difficulty level, I guess.

Also, it shows Stonehenge at 16 culture.

it might be a bug, but wonders double it´s cultural output when obsolete. You shoud be receiving 8 as i see the obelist is still "online"

¿Have you just researched the calendar?

Don't have calendar yet. I am searching the forums for some info. I would like to see how the difficulty level effects research...ie, is there a multiplier of some type.

What are those little red/purple arrows all over your city? I've never seen that icon in my games.

Ok I think I've figured out the research thing. I just started a new game and I could research Monotheism, Bronze Working and Writing (all cost 184 rp's). However, Monotheism and Bronze Working took 11 turns and Writing only took 8. The reason must be, you get a bonus for techs that have already been researched (it could be +1 rp for every civ that has the tech already).

In this case, neither Monotheism or Bronze Working had been researched, but at least 4-5 other civs must have Writing for it to be so much easier to research.

That's my stab at it, anways.

I haven't heard of that before, but it could be the answer!!!
