What We Know About Brave New World

NY Post interview with Ed Beech.

Players will be able to select an ideology—Communism, Fascism, or Democracy—each with immediate and long-lasting effects on both military strength and culture. In a direct response to player feedback, creating and promoting art is now a worthwhile pursuit.

For example, democratic players will benefit greatly from building radio towers—“voices of freedom”—across the land. A Communist state’s citizens may hear these messages and slowly grow unsatisfied with their working conditions. Likewise, if you chose Communism and have managed to keep the workers happy, citizens of a capitalistic nation who are feeling powerless might convert.

Thanks Eagle, updated

Civ V: Brave New World will allow you to collect great works of art from Great Artists, Great Writers, and Great Musicians. You can collect Great Works and put them into your culture buildings. Do you think that you will have a complementary collection? I tend to be eclectic.

Spoiler :

Ninive is suposed to be the capital of Assyria. By the way the first Library of history was in Ninive:D

Shakespeare- great writer

Great work slots in buildings and some wonders.

(some typos in op)

Being a city-state doesn't necessarily condemn a potential Civ. Rio de Janiero and Warsaw were City-States.

I wouldn't... "necessarily" count out Civs just because their cities are taken by other Civs. Byzantium and the Ottomans share the SAME CAPITAL. Istanbul was Constantinople.

according to Dennis, Christianity split up. there will be Catholism, Protestantism and Eastern Orthodox.

Not exactly part of BNW, as Vanilla & G&K will get it as well, but a load of MP enhancements got mentioned.

Also from the livestream, there will be new resources, but they are somehow connected to one of the new civs, and they aren't talking about that new civ yet.

Deleted due to certain Moderators taking any correction to the OP as discussion.

One of the new "reformation" beliefs (unlocked when the reworked Piety tree is finished) will be the ability to buy science buildings with faith.

EDIT: Also from the Q&A: new "diplomat" unit in the espionage system -- will not steal techs but will gather intrigue (and won't be subject to being killed by counterspies), which will enable some vote-buying and vote-trading in (or leading up to) the World Congress.

And, in addition to the 25% tourism bonus from open borders (shown in the demo re France), the tooltip showing the open borders bonus also referenced a possible 25% tourism bonus from cities sharing a religion with a majority of cities in the target civilization.

From today's Q&A there was mention of a change/addition to religions.

Specifically named was splitting Christianity into Catholicism, Protestantism, etc.
