I am a complete noob to multiplayer games, and decided that I am going to create a pitboss game for newbies. Im gonna cap the people at 8 or 10, depending on how many we get. Then we'll decide if we want to do Team or FFA. Here is the setup I plan on making:

Map: Continents
Size: Large
Players: 8-10
Turn Timer: 24hrs
Era: Ancient
Climate: Temperate
Sea Level: Medium
Speed: Normal

Unfortunately I do not have Warlords, so I dunno what that means. This is my first multiplayer, so any tips during it will be helpful.

My civ will be Mongolia/Genghis Khan

Count me in. I like to be Katarina Russia.
For settings here are my wishes:

sice normal plz
turn timer 22 hours (thats 24 hours in real time)
speed: quick but normal is OK too.
barbarians: No barbarians they slow down the game
tech trading: yes just dont abuse it guys!!!

Forgot some settings preferences:

turn timer I would suggest 20-22 hours, since it stops when people take their turns and stuff, so it ends up being around 24 anyway.
speed: normal and quick would both be fine by me, I would be against Epic unless you did a much quicker turn timer, like 12-16...
barbs- off, unbalanced...
techtrading- off, unbalanced

Ok so the list so far is this:

1) Dwarkyzidez - Mongolia, Genghis Khan
2) Scooter - Inca, Huayna
3) Sonnybonds - Russia, Katarina
4) ForesterSOF - China, Quin SHi Huang
5) Darius_Silva - Rome, Julius Caesar
6) Might Dwarf - India, Ghandi
7) mrkilla22 - Aztec, Montezuma

we need either 1 or 3 more people. I have not completely decided on the settings yet, but I will. We will do a team based match, and it will be decided by random (I'll find a way).

Well, we have the full game now then. I guess I will start up a test game first. But since I'm a newbie...I dunno how to start this thing, haha. Do I do direct IP or something? Any guide I can follow?

A guide on setting up a PitBoss server is contained in the Civ 4 readme file.

Path should be C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Readme.htm or you can access it from the Start menu.

for settings: I dont think a teamgame is a good idea: If someone drops out you are stuck with not so smart AI teammate. wich basicly means end of game for your team.
