Caveman 2 Cosmos

I did clear the cache. My game just froze after i changed turn..and Civ 4 goes "not responding"
I play standard map with 9 civs..barbarians on..revolutions off. Everyone has around 6 towns. Nothing so cumbersome for the system. It's classical era. I haven't made any changes to the game whatsoever.

My specs are as follows:

Ram 4gb
Win 7 64 bit
Intel E7400 Core Duo 2.8ghz
GeForce 9500 GT 1 gb

did u attempt the savegame

You know what, I used to have that same GeForce 9500 GT 1 GB and it caused crashes in both C2C and RoM-AND no matter how small of a map I would pick. I tried a million things, some of them pretty obscure from searching through various threads, to try to get it fixed but it caused crashes no matter what I did.

Now my setup is different than yours as I was using XP with the 3GB switch (tried many differenta userva settings), but I ended up replacing my graphics card (actually to an ATI Radion graphics card with lower memory but higher performance specs overall) and it IMMEDIATELY solved all my problems, I picked up the card used on ebay for like $60 bucks or so. Now I can run it with Giant maps and 25 civs no problem. Seriously.

Didn't read through your whole thread on what your specific issue was but quickly noticed the graphic card you were using and since I had several weeks of messing around with that card before finally figuring out it had an issue. My thinking at the time was how it allocated virtual memory in XP's 4GB virtual memory space, that it somehow was interfering with the 3GB I was dedicating to the game.

Whatever the reason, I would consider looking at another video card...

Hey guys, the mod looks awesome. I've been playing Legends of Rev for the last year and need a new game to keep my interest... but I can't get caveman 2 cosmos to load properly! When the game loads up the mod *seems* to be loaded in the menu screen, but when I actually create a game it's just vanilla BtS
This happened to me a while back, and apparently this is a common error for other mods. I'm not sure if this will fix it, but I ran the mod on XP compatability SP3 and admin privileges. You'll have to wait for a few minutes while it loads the mod onto the RAM (one person had to wait for 16 minutes), but it fixed it for me.
If you're using XP, then idk.
What are your specs?

On a tangent, I'd like to inform you that the latest patch for RevDCM is 2.9 and that unofficial patch is now 1.6.
Btw, theres 3 new speeds (Eternity, Snail and Blitz).

Is it possible that the crushes I experience might be connected somehow to the turn count? I noticed that in the last two cases my games actually reached 800 and approx 790 turns when they "froze"...

Did you read the below post:

Sorry, but you should check that out first. If you have a spare graphics card or maybe just intergrated graphics you should try switching to that and just getting the game to go without crashing.

Now... that IS fascinating... HUGE maps with 25 civs with NO PROBLEM you say? Hmmm... I think an ATI Radeon just made my wish list... Any particular card model you recommend?

I can run the game with 25 civs and a giant map with an Nividia GTS 450. I believe that RAM and your processor would have to do with the map size and civ count than the graphics card though. It depends on the field of view and the settings you have really... It can run most other games without a problem, as it does have 1 GB memory.
Check my profile for my specs.

Hi everyone, i'm fresh of registration, but a veteran lurker, and can't manage to address a probably noob problem.
I'm a long time AND player, and C2C seems like an awesome addition to it, however, when i load it in any other language than english, the main menu's text vanish.
now, playing in english is not an impassable obstacle, but i remind that in AND you can play in your language of choice, having the vanilla texts translated(in my case, in italian), and the added content in their native language. being C2C based on AND, how come it is no longer possible?
seems that civ can't find the translated vanilla strings...
i've tried diffing the config files, but i haven't find anything useful, can someone more knowledgeable point me in the right direction?

Thats because ALOT of the modcomps that "we" put in have only English text files, sorry:blush:. Someone will have to go though ALL the text files and change them, and that is very tedious work.

I doubt that anybody is going to translate the whole game's text, but if you want to translate some of the files, the majority of the interface text is stored in the XML and Modules folders in Assets.
I might go through some of the files later, maybe translate some of them, but that's not really my thing.

Finally finished playing through my first game of C2C from (mostly) start to finish :) While I've started and played many a game, this was the first time I hadn't gotten distracted by other things, or encountered an unavoidable CTD or other pesky issue. Truly the only problem I really had was the "Black Terrain" issue popping up about every other load. Also, I was using Divine Prophets, and didn't have any kind of issue building the religious shrines in Holy Cities. It was a Large/Donut Map/Marathon/Diplomatic Victory.

A few things stuck out to me as I reflected on the course of the game. First, I'll need to step up to Epic next game, in Marathon the match began to go a little too quick for me in mid-late game :) I like more longer, drawn out games that require more time, thought, and strategy, instead of a handful of hours and new units/buildings/tech's every few turns. On that thought, I was also surprised at how quickly the game went. At the end game synopsis apparently it "only" took just under 27 hours. I've played games of RoM:AND that went up to 40+ hours, so I was bit taken aback. The game didn't seem to go by faster, especially with all the new stuff included.

Next, there were pretty much no revolutions at all till mid-late game. I was begining to think that maybe that part of the game had been removed. However, one good sized global war in the beginnings of the industrial age and the domino's began to fall, then pretty much every nation (save mine and one vassal) with over 6 cities began to suffer massive revolts. In the span of a few dozen turns, the game went from 11-13 civ's to nearly double that! With only 2-3 of those having more then 4-5 cities apeice. A dozen or so turns towards the end of the game I counted 86 cities on the map from the scoreboard. I had 11, one of my vassals had 11, an independent civ had 6, the other 59 cities were spread among a good 2 dozen or so civ's. Late game I had to keep the scoreboard minimized or not be able to use the entire right half of the screen! :p If I had to hazard a guess, either the War Weariness sapped their ability to maintain their domestic situation, or all the early buildings that were helping to prop them up suddenly went obsolete, and their house of cards came tumbling down.

*EDIT* Also, the AI seems to just love the warlord units.. They had tons of 'em.. It got to be where I wouldn't send missionaries and the like through "friendly" territory unescorted.. While in principal I like the units, why the need for Hidden nationality?

@little_cyclone

Thanks for the feedback. I am not surprised that the early game buildings did not phase out well. I have focused most of my efforts to early game so it will take awhile for me to work though each era for re-balancing. Hopefully when i am done it will all flow nicely to where most building phase out into the galactic era buildings.

is there a posibbelity of adding natural gas resource to the game? and wonders like gazprom and all thath stuff?(sorry for my engllish im argentinian :S)

Yes, Warlords are acting exactly as designed, and aren't they really, really annoying? ;)

What requirements to a video card (resolution 1280х1024, 50 civ, a large map) for с2с? What specific models?
Orions Mod Collection will be integrated in с2с? http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=351424
Very much it is necessary the ice breaker :)

Some of Orion Veteran's stuff is already in C2C. His Health Care mod some wonders and Immigration mod are included. Although the latter is sometimes in and sometimes out as we address turn speed problems. they can't just be plugged in they need to be crafted into place which takes some time.;)

I believe that the mid-late game part of the equation is because, including your guesses, is because of the large empire factor and the financial instability that a war causes.

Indeed, but I think that might have aided in the AI's rapid downfall, as they had so many of them at once, and the upkeep on them is not insignificant.

Tho I did enjoy capturing them and taking the minor general specialists ;)

Agreed, tho I would have to also include the obsolescence of the early buildings as well, since the bonus cash they provide had been a constant prop to their empries, otherwise they would have started to crumble long ago..

T-Bird,
I've been using an ATI Radeon HD 4650 for almost 2 years now with only 512MB of DDR2 ram with PCIE2.0. Which is an "Old" card by today's standards.

Any of the Newer versions in the HD4700 and above series with 1GB(+) of video ram and Pixel Shader tech better than 2.0 will run C2C, AND and any of the other mods for CIV IV BtS.

I got my card from Newegg for $60 plus shipping.

JosEPh :)

I have one question for v12. Is it at all possible to turn of the difficulty enhancer? The box isn't checked and every 50 turn the difficulty get's raised. And playing in snail speed on a gigantic map it's at deity quite "quickly".

The problem is that "someone" forgot to remove the check box from the "Custom Game" screen now that it is on the BUG Options screen.

Go into the BUG options - use Lady Bug button on the left near the top of the screen. Select the "Caveman 2 Cosmos" tab. Turn off flexible difficulty there.
