How to speed up Civ V?

Hi All!

When I try to play on small or bigger map sizes the turns will be very slow. My computer has a Core i3-2330M processor, 4 GByte RAM and a GeForce GT540M graphic card with 1 GByte RAM. The settings (in graphics) are medium-high.

Do anyone has a solution to speed up the turns?

Does this happen at the beginning of the game, the late game, or all the time?

In beginning it is quite OK on duel an tiny maps. But with bigger map sizes, the turns last so long at the beggining too.

Sorry, but the i3 is just not a very good gaming processor. If you can't get a new computer, I recommend checking to see if your computer can hold any more RAM (try here). But aside from that, the least you can do is move up to an Intel i5 or an AMD A8. At the very least an A8.

Any notebook significantly faster than what you have will be very expensive (any AMD notebook CPU will be even slower).
More RAM won't help with turn times.

Not with gaming. It dominates Intel with integrated GPU power. The A10-4600M is really good for integrated graphics, and I've surprisingly found one south of $500 (although it needs to be customized).

I would like to point your attention to the OP:

1. We are talking about Civ5 specifically

2. We are talking about turn times

3. A dedicated GPU is a given

When talking about "CPU" performance in relation to Civ, it really means that, CPU performance.

This does not change if the CPU has an GPU attached to it on the same die.

How to speed up Civ V?
