Extended Original Secondary Tech Tree

I am playing TOT on a Windows XP professional operating systems. When my spaceship lands on Alpha Centari, I am not able to being researching the second tech tree (ultrastring theory). I have no clue what the problem is.

I think there's a glitch that the event that triggers it that was fixed in patch 1.1. Have you patched ToT yet?
