More Fantasy Units

Well, yeah, I haven't met my real-life deadline.

BUT...

I decided to take a break and reskin your skavens. Here they are... I hope you like it (and I hope since I am no longer haunted by skavens, I can do my job faster :lol:)

archmage

mage

adept

BUT...

Oh look! Lamias! They just beg to be (re)-skinned! Oh... :crazyeye:

perfect :D thanks esvath you are really getting really really good at this!

i reskinned the lahmias HERE feel free to rer-re-skin them further :p

EDIT: actually is there some way you can change the magic fire effect from black/purple to toxic-green lightning + gas?

Ah, it looks like that I have to change the effect color too. Here is skaven mage+archmage with green fire.

I even didn't know, that skave units are out there. They look great.

Well, the white-furred rats with same basic models are out in FfH as the Mustevals (spelling?). I also hadn't knew that there are the grey-furred one (which is more feral-looking, IMHO) until P_L contacted me to reskin the rat mage.

Here is the download to base skaven unit P_L gave me (just in case you are interested :lol:).

Add my version of Lamia arcane line :D

I think the green scale for the snake-part is better, more fitting with Lamia (somehow :lol: ). Then I think that the skin for human-part should also greeny, not pinky like a healthy human. Voila, this lady (and her sisters) is born.

One thing that made me wonder is that I am unable to attach an effect nicely. Somehow all effects I tried to attach become bigger (and uglier) than they should. Finally I have to satisfied with (supposedly) flame-thingy from her sword (yeah, sword. I was unable to attach any mage-wand or staff, sigh).

Anyway, enjoy the Poisonous Lamia, here.

Nice work :goodjob:.

For the green human skin, i think it should be darker, not that neon green, more like a green you would expect from a lizard.

I tried with darker green but then it became undistinguishable with the cloth. I dunno, maybe I'd tried again with a little bit different green :)

Best one yet :goodjob:

Thank you, I hope these ladies end up in some mods :D

Basic modding question:

When adding unique skins of generic units (say the Calabim adept/mages, for example) what files do I need to edit? ArtDefinesUnit only? I found a guide elsewhere but I can't seem to make it work. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry for the late answer :p

I modmod FfH only so I don't know whether this would work with other mods. You edit CIV4ArtDefines_Unit.xml to add your combination of nifs, sounds, icons etc into a ART_DEF_XYZ.

Then, you have to change CIV4UnitArtStyleTypeInfos.xml in folder Civilizations\. You need to add a UnitArtStyleInfo as this :

Code:
		<UnitArtStyleTypeInfo>
			<Type>UNIT_ARTSTYLE_CALABIM</Type>
			<StyleUnits>
				<StyleUnit>
					<UnitType>UNIT_ADEPT</UnitType>
					<UnitMeshGroup>
						<EarlyArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_ADEPT_CALABIM</EarlyArtDefineTag>
						<LateArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_ADEPT_CALABIM</LateArtDefineTag>
						<MiddleArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_ADEPT_CALABIM</MiddleArtDefineTag>
					</UnitMeshGroup>
				</StyleUnit>
				<StyleUnit>
					<UnitType>UNIT_ARCHMAGE</UnitType>
					<UnitMeshGroup>
						<EarlyArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_ARCHMAGE_CALABIM</EarlyArtDefineTag>
						<LateArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_ARCHMAGE_CALABIM</LateArtDefineTag>
						<MiddleArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_ARCHMAGE_CALABIM</MiddleArtDefineTag>
					</UnitMeshGroup>
				</StyleUnit>
				<StyleUnit>
					<UnitType>UNIT_CHARIOT</UnitType>
					<UnitMeshGroup>
						<EarlyArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_CHARIOT_CALABIM</EarlyArtDefineTag>
						<LateArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_CHARIOT_CALABIM</LateArtDefineTag>
						<MiddleArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_CHARIOT_CALABIM</MiddleArtDefineTag>
					</UnitMeshGroup>
				</StyleUnit>
				<StyleUnit>
					<UnitType>UNIT_MAGE</UnitType>
					<UnitMeshGroup>
						<EarlyArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_MAGE_CALABIM</EarlyArtDefineTag>
						<LateArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_MAGE_CALABIM</LateArtDefineTag>
						<MiddleArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_MAGE_CALABIM</MiddleArtDefineTag>
					</UnitMeshGroup>
				</StyleUnit>
		</UnitArtStyleTypeInfo>

That way, your ART_DEF_XYZ will overwrite regular ART_DEF for your units. Hope this helpful :D

After a hiatus, here is another reskins. This one is from tesb's reskin of grigori dragon slayer.

I present you... the Archdemon!
