SevoMod 3

Some people have trouble playing mods if they are put in that directory, you would be better copying the files into > MyComputer/HDD( C: )/Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meiers Civilisation/Mods. Once you get into that screen/directory then thats where you copy the Sevomod folder. It should then be in the Mods section of the actual game.

On an side note, if you want to have this mod as your standard Civ4 game then you can change the 'Civilization.ini.' file, just under halfway down the page, change it to look like this :

Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none
Mod = Mods/Sevomod

I think its well established that there is CTD for all/most players. Hoping sevo or anyone else with modding skills can identify the CTD source

If you didn't use 7zip may just extract empty folder. I use IZARC which is suppose to extract 7zip but all I got was empty folder. Use Sevo's link to down load 7zip. Once you install it, right click on 2.9 7zip file it will give you the option of extracting it, then just browse to mygames/civ4/mods. Should then work.

Crash to desktop... :(

Indeed not. I haven't found any religion mod yet that really inspires me! Even my own little play mod wouldn't really fit well into this one.

Anyway: New patch being released: 2.9-B

-Fixes ALL the city screen issues (slowness, display probs, etc)
-Fixes Tech Tree selection problem
-Fixes missing leaderhead portraits
-Fixed multiple python issues & errors from 1.61 update
-Fixed "TC: X" popup
-Fixed floating military freighter (it was a "hovercraft", duh!)
-Captured slaves now captured as slaves. If you're not a slaver, they'll be freed.
-Fixed Evolution providing ten billion specialists
-Changed Teuta to Seafaring, Progressive
-Added "onUnitCreated"/"onUnitBuit" checks to Nationalistic trait; units now have nationalism as soon as they are created instead of after moving (good idea Shqype!)
-Fixed problem with Settle religion
-Fixed problem with some units having pink circles for graphics

Still to fix:
-Forest Chops not providing hammers. I don't even know where this problem is arising yet. Hunting...
-Dutch flag change
-Adding Religious victory (we'll try it out)
-Military advisor still non-functional
-Crash to disk??

I have a question for you guys on the crash to disk issue. I understand based on some feedback I've gotten that at least one player was getting CTD's because he was using a copy of the original CivIV disk.

As I understand the legality of copies, it IS legal to make a copy of a game you own as a backup and play with it so long as you do in point of fact own the original game and you don't use both the copy and the original at the same time. Anyway, apparently the copy disk was causing a load of CTD's, but when he swtiched back to the original disk they stopped.

So, just curious if any of you can confirm CTD's with the original game disk? This problem is getting more and more elusive; especially since we've now established that a "crash" save game file can be reloaded and played by other players without problems and by even the same computer without problems!

People, let just all be patient with Sevo!

the CTD is a fault of firaxis, take2 or whoever programs the game. They released the game as "mod-friendly"! now, mods are growing over time. some over 100Megs, also in civ3 already!! they should have anticipated that people make huge mods, change gameplying etc. the least they could do is releasing all the code-changing they've done to those who make the large mods.

since it's really unbelievable that they actually consider to think that people like sevo will spend all their time on tracing changes, compatibility with new programming code ec etc each time they release a new patch! If they just release to the modders what is beeing changed, mods will be faster and easier adepted to the new program lines, and dll errors and such might occur not so often. I'd consider you all complain at firaxis as long as needed untill they agree to release all the code changing, maybe not public, but at least to people who have mods larger then 50megs! it's a huge list of lines you must check if they don't tell you what they change.

correct me if im wrong! :) I do not wish to critisize firaxis on the game itself!! it's a awesome game!! and i surely NEVER critizise the mod makers!! you'll doing hell of a job!!! I just wish firaxis maybe should assist more actively to the BIG MOD makers to keep the game running smoothly as possible. THEY have the knowledge, they should use it! :)

LOL, sevo posted the same time as I did :) anyway:
Fixed Evolution providing ten billion specialists
why did you do this?? :)))

I had a crash game and reloaded it with SD4Hide on the background..no crashes since..i think my crash was a crash of circumstances, reinstalling Outpost Firewall, opened MS word to copy paste cyrillic signs to translate them in the www.translate.ru website, opened coreldraw for photoediting, and restarted civ many times..all of this without restarting...and im always playing with the copy of my LEGAL DVD..actually..im not playing with DVD anyway..i just have a image on my HDD and load this in alcohol, then sd4hide..no crashes so far..at least not in the last 2months :) since i did a rollback to the ATI 4.11 drivers :)

so, I consider the crashes NOT a issue of copied or non original discs..but, maybe you use corrupt emulation software? however, why the game would start in the first place if this was true?

oh btw, since the 1 crash im playing hours and hours on a huge map without crashing! :) with a cloned image!

I couldn't agree more. I've got several mods to correct but thankfully the files are limited. Something like Sevomod would be a nightmare.

-Adding Religious victory (we'll try it out)

Sweet! I'm glad you added this to the list... it's always good to have more paths to victory! I've seen the AI guard against this (Both by closing borders and by sticking with theocracy to prevent spread much longer than they normally would have), and experienced a LOT more missionary activity in the later stages of the game. Regarding the percentages, I was spreading religion like a mad bastard, and still had trouble getting above 25% in my state religion. It's a pretty good addition to the game, IMO.

I found one of the most effective counters to an AI religious victory thrust is to spread other religions as much as possible. It really knocks the percentages down!

Just curious.....Does the military advisor not work at all? I can't check for myself as I'm at work.

Thanks for the patches, Sevo! Can't wait to get home and play!!!:goodjob:

I've got a problem on MP: The host CTD's, and the other has to ctrl+alt+del to shut civ down. Also, sometimes player1 isn't the host, it's just open (so the game has 0 players in it). This was with patch A, nothing edited.

We'll try with patch C tomorrow.

Hi Sevo, I've just subscribed to the forums to say this:
At first GREAT WORK, I love your mod.
2nd: Will you ever make SevoMod compatible to other languages, like Italian for example?
3rd Can you add Italian Civ Mod by Throttle (originally made by Robo Magic Man) ? There are lots of civs... so why not this, which I think is fundamental?
4th Can you add 2nd Unique Unit Mod by Master Lexx? There're lots of interesting units.
I know I'm making big requests but I want you to know that we really appreciate all your efforts to have made such a good mod!
Thanks!
