Hey all, recently bought and built myself a new pc. Did all the things and stuffs recommended in the other threads, unfortunately nothing helped. What I did:
- update BIOS.
- remove/install video drivers (tried clean install as well)
- Remove Civ, delete folder in user/my games. -> reinstall.
- Boot inbetween all these actions.

I can run GTA V and other new games on high etc, the error for me starts with:
- Your system is running out of memory (16 gig RAM, 6 gig VRAM, 16 gig pagefile(?))
Shortly after which I get:
- Renderer error.

I've checked temps, which are all in order, I have plenty ram and vram left, I'm not sure why I get this error now.

Mandatory information:
- Windows 10.
- MSI GTX980 ti 6 gig.
- MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Motherboard.
- 16 gigs (2x8G) DDR4 Ram @ 2400 MHz
- Intel Core i7 6700k @ 4400 Mhz
- Attached dxdiag file. (which probably has above info )

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Try a few things.

If it loaded through Steam, try disabling the overlay. This can cause some problems. Googling "disable steam overlay" should do the trick.

While some may not like this program, it seems to do some backend setting changes for games which can help. The program is Nvidia GeForce Experience. Optimize Civ V from there.

Thanks for the tips, unfortunately the only thing Experience does is make Civ fullscreen, which doesn't help. Disabling the overlay wasn't it either :(
