He said that in a New Statesman interview (from a little googling).

Paxo is cool anyway.

Yeah, he doesn't tolerate crap from politicians.

Or students on University Challenge!

Is that supposed to be funny?

Don't see how, as he's just listing his favourite musician, comedian, painter and writer? Who also don't happen to be socialists.

*Sighs* He's showing that he isn't head over-heels with all socialists and ACTUALLY (god forbid) likes and accepts people with a different political view.

Oh, are you in college now?

Not yet, i'll be in it soon and what does that have to do with my political views? Believe or not, there are people who're liberals who HAVEN'T been in college or have been liberal years after finishing college.

But this is not the topic in question. I ACTUALLY (God forbid) can read, and I couldn't care less for what paintings he likes in *this* context. For the moment I happen to listen a lot to Kuhlau. He didn't write a word about historical materialsm.
But he asked why he was perceived in a certain way regarding *his political views* and I tried to answer that. If he wants to discuss Flemish renaissance painters I am happy to oblige him, but not in this thread.

Perhaps, you should tell him the social democratic ideas in question?
He gives the impression to be a socialist, and a reformist at that, who doesn't seem to be to heavily weighed down by marxist ideology.
Just like the good old social democrats, before people like Blair made the word dirty.

Nothing to worry about, my friend.:)
English is not my first language, so I am prepared to be misunderstood once in a while.

Sorry, could you be more specific?

First of all I don't find it fair to RRW to dissect him im public. He is a good lad, and deserves better.
Secondly I don't want this thread to be about me. I know just too well what happens if I plunge deeper into this and I am off to my favourite pub in about an hour.

1)That's the whole point of this thread and he signed up to it  In fact, he pretty much asked it some pages back

I've recently noticed I'm not generally considered a communist, why is this?

2)It's not as much as this thread being all about you as much as it is you being the one claiming that RRW isn't a true communist (among others, but none else has said anything) and then refusing the say why :(

Is that supposed to be funny?

As you've stated before, you have no sense of humour, so don't let it bother you

You said I 'also seem to be quite fond of the ideas of non-socialists.' Unless you are going to be specific, don't expect the same from me. Interesting that I'm a Social Democrat this week, last week I was apparently a Liberal
