MilarNES: Birth of A Civilization

The first steps the nations on this ancient world known as Gaia have made are turning out to have big consequences, bigger than what the people in that moment would know then. Right now, every nation is doing its best to expand as much as possible, aiming to control land where the people can live and where more products can be collected for the good of the country, of a few people or of only the leader of the nation. It's also the time where they will expand the size of their army, convinced that in the future they will need it (which is true, but none of them can be completely sure), but as of yet unknowing about whether other nations like theirs currently exists.

Let's see what's going on around the world. In those places, people learn, people build, and people grow up, unaware of the future that awaits for them, but aware that the present needs their presence in there.

Africa

Brundagana acted in a way that really helps to understand the character of its inhabitants. After arming a new unit of Impis, they launched nearly its whole army towards conquering new lands for the nation. The Warriors Brigade was kept back for an unknown purpose, but when they were told to board a ship and go in the direction from where the sun rises, they were sure that they were going to die, but keeping their oaths of serving in their mind, they took the fleet and rowed fast towards the east. In spite of looking like the predictions would be true, the warriors managed with their last effort to reach an island where they managed to rest and eat well for the first time in days. However, a sudden storm destroyed the whole fleet, leaving them stranded on the island without means to come back. However, after the incident they proved themselves up to the task by setting up a small community in the island of Adragana and started to live from the fruits of a tree which they were able to plant and take care of, thus managing to get a nearly constant source of food that allowed them to stay alive until the nation tried to arrive again with a new fleet. (Agriculture (+1 EC), expansion, -1 Oar-Ship, +1 CP, +4% Tribal Gods)

One would think that the nation of Damietta would still remain inside of their borders. They were mistaken. The young Theocracy launched their armies out in order to make sure that as much land as possible could be gotten for the young nation. Those lands would be settled by people that were aided by a new discovery that made taking things away much easier than before, thus helping with the expansion more than what the people thought. To celebrate the new age, the priests ordered the construction of a gigantic monument to the gods to be built in the middle of the desert, made with stone found near the capital. Many people died in the construction, driving the dead families away from the new religion, although the new people that were being born in the new lands managed to balance the number of followers. (Wheel (+1 EC), +1 CP, +1% Saharan Pantheon Gods, Stonehenge wonder started)

The Guanches make into the sea, as their first fleet is turned towards the ocean. While the main army expands the lands in the continent, a brave group of Silbadores board their Lanchas and sail towards the north-west, reaching an archipelago of islands that is easily conquered for the young nation. Some people are taking to actually mine stone from quarries, providing materials to build stronger buildings and perhaps start to make some things that can work for the best in this nation. (Stone Mining (+1 EC), expansion, +3% Achamán Worship)

Asia

In the Babylonian Empire, people kept busy seeing how the first fleets the nation had were are sent towards the south, floating along the two rivers to conquer new lands for the Empire, with a half of the army loading into each of them. This leaves the main territory practically empty of soldiers, but many more are being trained right now to fill the spaces and keep pushing towards the north to add more lands. The soldiers landed after many kilometers along the water were done, and, landing in the shores, set upon to conquer many lands. Although they weren't able to contact with the mainland, two sizable territories were occupied by the warriors, making the Babylonian Empire a powerhouse on his own. Back in the city of Babylon, an accidental discovery was made of how to make fire in a fast way, something that was expanded fast between the inhabitants of the nation and those who choose to settle in other places. (Fire (+2 EC), expansion, +3% Babylonian Paganism)

The fruits of the hard work done by the people of Singodia and the leadership provided by Nabuc, the oligarch that many years before managed to introduce fire to the Singodian people, are now being harvested. In the southern reaches of the nation, several people have been able to domesticate several animals from the plains, with the strangest case being that of an albino tiger that had been left by its mother but taken care of by a family to whom the tiger cub would feel so grateful that it protected them for his whole life. Other discovery was made in the north, where a couple of builders were able to use a new tool, called “wheel”, to move objects with less effort, thus improving the speed with which buildings are finished. Farther in the north, the Happy Whistling Clubmen kept with their pillage of the barbarian tribes, whose leaders decided to surrender to the Singodians in order to prevent further attacks against them. The southern Warriors managed to launch a successful conquering attack towards the plains, but terrible news would reach the warriors' families as the monsoon rains wiped the whole unit out. (Animal Husbandry, Wheel (+2 EC), expansion, +1 Treasury, +2% Fertility Cult)

The isolated SNES Land isn't resting in their laurels, as the first fleet of Oar-ships departed the main ports to strike the northern point of Honshu Island while the first horse-riders (trained by the best the nation had to provide, which wasn't much) followed the ships on land, the second fleet of Oar-ships conquered Shikoku to the south and the Slinger Unit managed to finally take over the western tip of Honshu. The trend of the last years was inversed as people, amazed at the progress of the nation, accepted that perhaps there was some truth in the words of the religion of Playerism and joined the Church, boosting with it with donations. (Animal Husbandry (+1 EC), expansion, +1 Treasury, +2% Playerism)

Europe

The Gaulic Confederation have been mourning the loss of their hero, Gath Kirti, for a lot of time. To commemorate both him and the Darali, the founders of the Confederation, a set of rock statues is being built in the recently conquered coast of northern Gaul. Several nomads, after seeing the effort done to make the statues, decided to join the nation, bringing with them the knowledge of how to make “wine”, an alcoholic drink that can be made by letting the juice of grapes ferment. This would turn into a fad in the nation, as some would make wine and many would buy it, thus making the economy raise while the army keeps conquering new lands in the empty spaces in Gaul and its coast through the use of new tactics. (expansion, +3 growth points, +2 CP, +4% Ancestor and Personality Cult, Moai Statues wonder started)

Eastern Europe sees Idyll expand even further, as they learn how to catch fishes from rivers and send a small fleet of ships along their main river with a specially trained slinger on it, and the warriors are sent towards the south, where other river has been found and settled by Idyllians anxious to live in new lands. The successes of the army drive even more people into joining the cult of the military, which has experimented a big raise as a consequence. (Agriculture (+3 EC), expansion, +6% Militarism)

The Kingdom of Hellenium followed the same pattern it has done for the last years, as their northward drive keeps going. However, the lessons of the past have been learned, and the soldiers are being accompanied by fishermen who can catch food easily, but the soldiers conquering the interior have found themselves with the same trouble as they weren't given enough supplies. A way to create fire was discovered by one of these soldiers as he tried to repair the blade of his knife, accidentally starting a bonfire that kept the army hot in the middle of a strange blizzard they were suffering. After the blizzard ended, the warriors set out towards the south and, when they reached the city, they entered the Temple of Zeus, whom they thanked for giving them the present of fire, which they would then teach to the sages. These sages would start then to investigate new ways to transport objects at higher speeds and with more efficiency than before. (Fire (+2 EC), Wheel (2/5), expansion, +3% Hellenic Polytheism)

A new king has arisen in the Kingdom of Rome! Calling himself Erez, he has set out to restore the trust in the nation that King Romulus managed to almost recover during his reign. After orders to learn the art of Fishing met with success as people learned that using nets to catch the fishes is far more easier than using harpoons, a sage was able to produce a new invention called “wheel” that can be used to transport things on land faster than before. The drive towards the south was a wise move that turned out to conquer much of the Peninsula before a barbarian tribe launched an attack against them. Although the Warriors managed to hold their ground without much loss of life, the barbarians managed to keep the Romans away from their lands, which they claim is the “point of the boot”, which doesn't make any sense to them, but they figure they are from the south-western part of the peninsula judging from the point they came from. (Fishing, Wheel (+4 EC), expansion, +2% Roman Paganism)

The natives of Pictland reached a milestone in their lives as they learned how to take care of animals and use them in war, knowledge that was put into practice when the first Riders set upon the island of Eastern Anglia in combination with the first Atlatls the world has ever seen and the always fearful Woad Warriors. The tactics employed by them were put into good use, as they managed to reach the region known as Wels by its inhabitants, who pacifically surrendered to the Woad Warriors that entered their lands, with some of them being converted to the Celtic religion through the words of some of the Woad Warriors under their drugged state (that of the Warriors, not of the converts). (Animal Husbandry (+1 EC), expansion, +1CP, +4% Celtic Polytheism)

In northern Italy, the United Tribes of Milan keep with their previous trend of studying and expanding with the use of their big army. Part of the soldiers set downriver while others went towards the south, finding a big mountain made of a strange white-bluish stone that shone prettily under the sun. After taking control of the zone, some sages were sent from the city of Milan to the new place, where they ordered a quarry to be started, as the “stone” could be used to make many things and to decorate buildings, old and new, along the nation. A new city was settled near the quarry, which soon started to take many stones out of it, which would be sent to Milan and other towns along the Po River. This quarry would also see the first efforts towards finding a way that can help the miners get the stones out of the mine faster than before. (Stone Mining (+1 EC), Wheel (3/5), expansion, +2% Animism)

North America

Riots rock the whole Holy Empire of Britannia as one Emperor after other hoards as much money as possible without taking care of their people. The pitiful remnants of the army that were left from trying to quell the riots have joined the rioters, who have attacked many state buildings and sacked whatever of value remains in them, with only the Emperor's palace remaining safe through the efforts of the Knights of the Round, who fear that the next open revolt against their Emperor will be the end for them while the Church of Imperialism reports a massive loss of followers. (6 EC banked, -1 Warrior, -2 EC (provisional), -3% Imperialism)

The Nootka natives have launched an aggressive attack towards the north, using their knowledge of fishing to build a Canoe that has taken a Warrior to conquer an island off the coast that other Warrior had managed to conquer with easiness. A Slinger has also taken many lands after going upriver at a fast pace. After a storm nearly drowned all the harvests in the nation, the laborers of the affected lands were given aids that wouldn't be needed as the lands were dried off before the grain could suffer any problem, but the laborers put that aid into use by expanding the surface of arable lands, thus giving the people more crops to feed from. (Fire (+1 EC), expansion, 0.25 on Economy, +4% Sun and Moon Worship)

Far to the south from the Nootka nation, the Seri have kept expanding along the Gulf of Serian, practically conquering its whole coast while the Oar-ships traveled from side to side to supply the troops with food as they kept going north and south. To commemorate the conquer of the northern half of the Gulf, plans were drew to build a majestic monument to the spirits to call for their support in this world as people wait to join them when they die. The stones used to build it were brought to the point where the monument would be built thanks to the wheel, which facilitated the efforts of the transporters. (Wheel (+1 EC), expansion, +4% Spiritualism)

Oceania

In the expanses of Sarawak, the God-Emperor-led soldiers have managed to conquer half of the island of Saraw really fast as the soldiers didn't have to wait much for the settlers to arrive, thanks to their wheeled carts. The new arrivals have brought new knowledge with them: the fruits grown in trees that were found near the capital are eatable, and can be cultivated in specially prepared lands so that they give fruits practically the whole year around, thus raising the number of people that can live from eating the fruits. The success is being attributed to the God-Emperor, who is being worshiped more than ever after all of these events. (Agriculture (+1 EC), expansion, +3 Economy, +1CP, +3% Worship of the God-Emperor)

South America

The Chibchan people, after building their first ships, launched an expedition towards the north-east in order to expand their lands, using their whole army to conquer as much lands as possible. The effort was a good hit, as the tribes found by the soldiers were all pacific and eagerly joined the Chibchan nation upon discovering how advanced they were, with the Eagle Warriors providing further argument with their imposing figures. Mining stone from the quarries in the north-east has also become an important feature for the young democracy, as they are used in embellishing buildings and making them more resistant. (Stone Mining (+1 EC), expansion, +3% Aztec Gods)

In their island in the middle of the ocean, the nation of Darwinia Ultima rests lazily like the turtles that make up their Cavalry. As the turtles age, they become even more slower, and laziness from the trainers has prevented them from catching and training new turtles to introduce them to use them for the army. The building works of the Kings Statues remain abandoned, with spider webs and moss growing in the humid points of it. (6 EC banked, -1 Army Quality)

Finally, in the southern reaches of the continent the Incan Empire expands even more, with their Warrior getting a lot of exercise as they lead the settlement of people along the coast and towards the east. The workers of the Incas Statues keep working hard, and they are nearly finished, as they only have to sculpt the face of Cuahtemoc, the fifth Inca. Once that is done, the world will have to marvel at the hard work the Incan Empire has done, since the hard work done by them will last for ages! (Moai Statues wonder worked on, expansion, +3% Inti)

@Everyone: well, I hope that you have liked the update. I have done my best to go forward with all the orders you sent. As you have seen, lack of orders unless there is a good reason can make things get ugly. It would be as if suddenly the government decides not to work anymore: should we have to wait happily until someone else decides to take up the mantle? No, we protest against the laziness. That is what is happening in the HEB. I hope that you won't be angry at this, it's only that in some cases the carrot approach has failed and I've had to apply the stick one. Those who religiously send orders before the deadline is reached need not to worry.

@stalin006: man, you could have read that there was a deadline fixed. This time, deadline will be posted in here. You don't have to leave the game just because you missed an update.

Also, in the end the Mercenaries will be available once Currency is reached, but only in the continent it is discovered. For example, once SNES Land (to put an example) discovers Currency, both Babylonia and Singodia will be able to contract Mercs, but neither the Europeans nor Sarawak will be able to.

Updated stats will be posted soon, as well as more technologies.

DEADLINE FOR UPDATE 3 WILL BE NEXT THURSDAY AT 7 PM GMT+1 (1 PM EST). PLEASE, DO NOT MISS IT.

Good update, but the map doesn't work.

The message from the King, his advisors the Darali, and the men of the Confederacy.

The first thing we must tell you... you may weep...

4 Score and seven years ago. Gath Kirti was dying, however, with his last minuets of like he striked the Chief Yurth, killing him. Before he died he lead a final charge against their Royal Guard who are just rallying with the Chief's Son, Yagus. He fought and won that battle, his most loyal soldiers trained and recruited the War Bands.

A year short of a decade later, his son, Tron Kirti had amassed a large amount of gold from selling or settling the Northern Lands. He was the one who taught the way of the War Band, he was the one who lead a march to build a monument for his father, for all the great leaders of the past. It was he who died, completing half of this great work. It was he who brought enough wine to bring its attention to our Confederacy. He sacraficed almost as much as his father, and he did as much for our Confederacy.

Again we started, adding another figure to our plans. The Greatest people of our time are represented. We worked, toiled, and today, 170 or so years after the Clans of Kirti, Hans and Gavin joined together to form the beginning of the Confederation, a great tragety shamed us.

The Great statue of Kirti turned into gold! Althought it might be a station for cheering it must not: for it collasped and became worthless in all but use. We tried again last month, but the gods refused, especially one by the name of Milzui, who said that another nation finished their march of legend.

Today, cry if you will. We have failed our ancestors. We hope that this new project will redeem ourselves and our honor. We know of no other similar to our work. This time we will complete it!

From today! We work on a new work of wonder! We work on the Legacies of Kirti and tribute them! Their family! Their Honor and their sacrafices!

Cry for the loss of the greater! Yet feel blessed for the lesser: we are not defeated, only instilled with hope for the future! Foward!

Nice update. Orders soon.

Hmm. Not sure how much time I have got, so sceleton orders.

Spend all raising troops,my UU, and expand HUGE amounts! :D

Gentlemen, this is the 24-hour WARNING! I have yet to receive several orders. So many orders are missing, that I will list instead those who have actually sent orders:

Sarawak (Haseri)
Rome (erez87)
Incan Empire (Arian)
Seri (c&cciv3)
Brundagana (D'artagnan59)
Pictland (Vertinari118)

I'll try to apply your orders as better as I can, Abaddon. I can't promise that what you want and what I might do will be the same, though.

Hoping that the remaining orders come soon. I don't want to have to delay the update just because someone was scatterbrained and didn't realised that the orders had to be sent at a certain time.

Also, Warhead is about to lose his position in the game, and Britannia will be NPCed unless he sends orders.

That's what it makes this sadder. I wager that perhaps I should start again, to see if people would enter the game then.

Please, don't force me to do it. If this drops under 5 PC nations, I'll stop this and wait for a couple of weeks to start again from year 0.

If there are any open slots, i would like to join

This is my first regular NES for maybe an year... Please don't kill it.

I don't want to do it, either, but for some reason there are hardly any posts in this thread, and people send orders very late, in spite of the fact that they know that sooner orders means better chances at getting what you want. Look at Arian, they have the Moai Statues just because he sent his orders nearly the first.

claiming babylon
what do you mean by babylonian paganism? or is that up to me to define?

EDIT: i can't get orders today but i can tomorrow
EDIT 2: Babylon doesn't show as having fire in the stats. it should right? Did it get the EC bonus?
